I'm going to wear my blue British passport like a badge of honour. It's our campaign medal.

For maximum effect you could call it The Blue Max.

Not directly brexit but interesting none the less. i also like the way the beeb reports it: Further improvement in Scotland's public financeswww.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-49413345Are you ready for the further improvements? Scotland's public spending deficit has fallen by a further £1.2bn over the past year, according to Scottish government statistics.
The Government Expenditure and Revenue Scotland (Gers) estimated the country spent £12.6bn more on public services than it raised in taxes.Bare in mind that the deficit for the entire UK is £23 odd billion, that means the sweaties are responsible for half of it. Somewhere down the line the Beeb has thought to add this: The estimated fiscal deficit for the UK as a whole in 2018/19 was £23.5bn - or 1.1% of its GDP. This was £18.3bn less than the previous year and the lowest for 17 years.
Scotland's deficit as a percentage of GDP is therefore more than six times higher at 7% - and more than double the 3% target set by the EU for its members.
Cyprus was the only EU state to break that threshold last year, with its fiscal deficit at 4.8% of its GDP - although it is expected to return to a surplus this year.
The average deficit across all 28 EU member states was 0.6% of GDP last year.More than double the EU regs you sweaty f*cking bastards. Sweet mother of mercy. Seek independence and rejoin the EU? Explain to me how that is going to work.

It's not directly Brexit but we're constantly told that Brexit will result in us Scots unshackling ourselves from the dead economic weight of England and gayly setting sail for the dappled olive groves of the EU. It seems, however, that the cupboard is bare.

Scottish Sea Farms is owned by a complex network of Norwegian firms, and Norway are not in the EU. The main reason for not joining EU is the lack of economic benefits.

"It's up to the UK to find that alternative"
I'll be interested to see what the UK comes up with. I bet there's going an alternative that means that the default fallback position if negotiations go sour is that the GFA is adhered to. It might be a different backstop - putting a border in the Irish Sea rather than having the UK remain part of the Customs Union. But there will be one.

I've just seen it pointed out elsewhere that actually, Merkel's done Boris up like a kipper (Kipper?). He has now accepted that it's his job to find a working alternative, and quickly...

Hilariously, the Remoan media (and the EU) are still trying to pretend they've got something to bargain with. UK's leaving. If UK doesn't leave with a deal, everyine gets a bit of pain, but Ireland is f**k*d. Good 'n' hard.

Here's an interesting one. The Guardian/BBC are going huge on this. Eastern European pupils subjected to massive Brexit xenophobia. A couple of things though. If you follow the link to the study you find that 800 and something pupils completed the survey. It's a convenience sample and therefore not random or weighted. Good on the researchers for being clear about that. The Guardian/BBC of course doesn't mention it. It was also published in 2017. Why now? One more thing. The article mentions that many of the remarks made were "banter". Maybe that's actually the case. After all banter between the Home Nations is part and parcel of the Union. Can that not be the case for the more recent European union. Xenophobic bullying souring lives of eastern European pupils in UK www.theguardian.com/society/2019/aug/22/xenophobic-bullying-souring-lives-of-east-european-pupils-in-uk?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard
