How do they know he died 'suddenly'? Did they bring in a medium?

Double ducked? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-65472220In light of Trump's conviction, this throws up some interesting questions about the credibility of civil actions. Something is wrong with the system and civil suits don't seem to be the answer. How do we secure better outcomes in sexual assault cases?

Difficult. Years ago a struggle and a grope were par for the course, but all blokes knew when a bird meant 'no'. Standards have changed to the point where one might be loathe to be left alone with a member of the opposite sex you didn't know too well, but a lot of blokes don't seem to have cottoned on to the new rules of engagement. So it's a minefield if you live that sort of laddish life.
Legal-wise, I dunno. Without concrete evidence it's one's word against another.

You're right: the fact that it's one person's word against another seems to be insoluble.

It's also quite obvious to me now that I've had a sheltered life and the kinds of goings on between people can be very murky indeed and there are an awful lot of men out there who know that they're very unlikely to be reported for sexual assault.
I just don't see how you can hope to police what is, by its nature, very private behaviour. If course, it should be made very clear what the rules are and those who make reports must be taken seriously, but it seems that we're always going to struggle to find a reliable way to deal with through the courts. Perhaps education and deterence are likely to be more effective.

And the rape thing: how many times has it been consensual on the night but 'rape' a bit later in the cold light of day?

I'm always mystified by men saying rules have changed and sexpestery in the past was just accepted, same with men who are afraid to be alone with a woman now.
Sexpestery was always wrong, just sadly it was never taken seriously, still isn't really. I've never felt afraid of being alone with a woman I don't know cos I've never felt sexpestery was something I'd spontaneously engage in so am never worried about being accused.

I don't think it matters if you know you would misbehave. Of course it's highly unlikely that anyone would accuse you and I suspect that cases of false accusations against total strangers are very rare. I'm guessing that false allegations are more commonly made where the two parties are known to each other.
I don't think I have ever felt uncomfortable being alone with a woman, perhaps only in the sense that she might be uncomfortable being alone with me. That, and perhaps it might be unseemly.

Yeah, same as I try not to walk behind single women when I walk to work at 630am I cross the street, because I was walking one morning behind this woman and I became aware she was glancing back looking very worried. Don't want anyone to feel like that.

It’s amazing how apparently it’s so difficult to understand consent and yet women, overwhelmingly, seem to get it.
