Odd, that. It feels like the cop used the wrong word. Obviously or identifiably Jewish would have expressed the concern better.
It's moot really because, in theory, his religion shouldn't matter to the protesters. Jewish =/= Israeli, Jewish =/= genocidal nazi butcher etc.
I think the pro-Pals missed an opportunity there.

"You look a bit Jewy sir. May I suggest you scarper sharpish before I arrest you for offending these good Muslim ladies and gentlemen?"

Ironically, I would advise the Police to heed The Jam, and stop apologising for the things you've never done.

Those wailing Jews, eh? "The Metropolitan Police Commissioner should resign over the force's handling of pro-Palestinian protests, the Campaign Against Antisemitism has said. The Met apologised on Saturday after an officer described an antisemitism campaigner as "openly Jewish" at a demonstration in London. Gideon Falter, chief executive of Campaign Against Antisemitism, had been wearing a kippah skull-cap when he was stopped in the Aldwych area of London and threatened with arrest on 13 April. Mr Falter was told by police his presence was causing a "breach of peace"." www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4n19j892neoOkay, I'm cool with letting the anti-nazis tear Gideon to bloody rags, for his cuntishness, not his religion.

I see Suellz is in agreement that London is a no-go city for Jews and that the Met are facilitating this and protecting Islam and the left from prosecution. Well said Suellz. If these marches are so aggressive and threatening, as plod suggests, the organisers need to start paying for the policing of them. "Now we come to last week, when we saw a man told that he looked “openly Jewish”, and threatened with arrest if he did not leave the area around the marchers. If the marches are so peaceful, why was an “openly Jewish” man stopped from walking near them? Despite the apology and then the apology for the apology, the truth is chilling. Over the past six months, we’ve seen failure after failure by the Met. Chants of jihad on the streets have been condoned by the police; advisers to the Met have been found to hold repellent views; a man carrying a placard stating that “Hamas are terrorists” was arrested, while those who are flagrantly anti-Semitic are waved on by the police. Either this is gross incompetence, or it’s a culture coming from the top, where thugs are free to intimidate and harass while the rest of us have to keep our mouths shut and stay out of the way – and all allowed by the man nominally supposed to hold the Met to account, London mayor Sadiq Khan. Where does this end? We should be worried that if this leadership of the Met and ministerial failure to change things continues, we will have failed to tackle Islamism and extremism on our streets. We’ve had the speeches and we’ve seen the tweets. I’ve lost count of the apologies. There has been ample time to improve but it only gets worse. If the Met commissioner is incapable of or unwilling to ensure that his officers enforce the law, and Sadiq Khan is happy with the soft approach to the hate marches, then the Prime Minister needs to finally get a grip. It gives me no pleasure to say this, but after such a litany of failure and a wholesale refusal to change, the Met commissioner needs to accept responsibility. And he must go." www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/04/20/suella-braverman-mark-rowley-palestine-protests/

It does seem that these marches are more of a leisure activity than an earnest attempt to demonstrate outrage. In part, I think that the pro-pals are slightly frustrated because, after years of being ignored, the majority of the UK public share their outrage and contempt for Israel.
I think we've missed a trick though: we should allow these demos three freebies and then say that they have to pay from there on. If only we'd had Suella back in the days of Greenham Common or t'Miners' Strike.

Everyone on these matches without a British passport should be kicked out. In fact anyone without a British passport on them at the marches should be deported.

I've just had a brilliant idea. Make Gideon Salter head of the Met. Of course he'll need a knighthood but isn't he just the type of person we want in high office?

"Sadiq Khan has accused the Chief Rabbi of singling him out for criticism over his Israel stance because he is a Muslim.
In seemingly incendiary comments, Mr Khan implied that senior members of the Jewish community, including the Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis, had condemned his call for a ceasefire because of his religion.
He said similar calls for a ceasefire made by Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, had not prompted a backlash and said that was because he was “not called Ahmed Burani, he’s called Andy Burnham whereas I’m called Sadiq Khan.”
He's apologised, but this is this a whine too far?

I'd single him out for being a Muslim on any stance, not just Israel.
