I'm pretty sure that the middle of the Atlantic is not part of the ULEZ. Do better. Ah, but submarines are mobile and could operate from the Thames. Do better.

The BBC article amused me, feeling the need to state this...
Test-fired missiles are not armed with their nuclear warheads.
No sh*t!

They know mids and perry read this stuff, so have to write it for their level.

Still, it might reassure them that when the next Trident test takes place, under a Labour Govt, it might not be too disastrous when the missile 'accidentally' lands on Israel.
Maybe not. I'm not very good with the conspiracy theory stuff.

The weird thing is that I'm not sure it's a bad thing to have an independent nuclear deterrent in Europe. France has one so we probably don't need one. But someone should have one for the time being, given the US right's combination of isolationism and dictator-felching which leads to lots of suggestions that they'll withdraw from NATO. Without US deterrent on our side in Europe, there's always a risk of Russia deciding to Do A Ukraine on other countries it considers should be in its sphere of influence.
So, France or Britain (or Germany or, ideally, the EU) should have an independent deterrent. The trouble with Trident is not only is it expensive and faulty, but it's not even independent. It's dependent on the yanks who appear to be inclined to get out of the business of helping others.

And if the Pro-Putin wing of the GOP do manage to seize power in the US, there's a good chance they'll never let the UK use Trident should Putin try expanding Westward given Putin and the GOP will have an effective alliance at that point.
