Mitch is probably safe because he's in Kentucky. Bevin appears to be even more inept than Mitch, which is how he managed to lose.

Well Jim I see your home state has experienced a massive swing against your man and you now have a Dem govenor. Must be like ashes in your mouth. I was surprised it was as close as it was, though it is still "Too Close to Call", have little doubt it will go dem,,, Rep won 5 out of 6 races though, if Bevin wasn't so much an ass it would have been a sweep Or if he wasn't perpetually waxing Trump's balls. Trump is destroying your party, jimbo.

Well, the transcripts (actual transcripts, btw, for people paying attention, unlike the "summary" of Trump's call to Zelenskyy which the Whitehouse released) of the testimony are out.
The people who were actually doing Trump's bidding in Ukraine have said that there was an explicit quid pro quo: military aid, and a meeting with Trump for Zelenskyy, were withheld until the Ukrainians announced another investigation into Hunter Biden (also note that the main request was for the investigation to be announced, not started).
Trump was explicitly bribing/blackmailing the Ukrainians for personal political gain using US taxpayer money.
Trump, meanwhile, has said "I didn't do a quid pro quo", as if he was a 5 year old using a euphemism for having a sh*t. And that the call was "perfect".
Even Trump's defenders have shifted their positions. After many manoeuvers, they're now saying that bribing foreign officials to interfere in US elections is "totally normal" or "not a good look, but not worth getting too concerned about". But they're not backing Trump's statement that there wasn't a quid pro quo at all.

More extortion than quid pro quo it has to be said.
Interestingly it's looking like this was actually their second time doing this, reports are coming out they did a similar shake down over javelin anti tank missiles back in 2017

Apparently Sessions is going to rerun for Senate in his old seat, be going up against the nonce Roy Moore. Might be interesting given Trumps love for the nonce and all the hatred he's poured on Sessions.

Bloomberg running is such a comically terrible idea. One unpopular rich ex-mayor of New York totally failed in a primary that already has a old white centrist dude in it. So let’s add a 77 year old billionaire unpopular ex-mayor of NYC who wants to defend the banks and wall Street... surely that’s what the public are really clamouring for.

Sounds like he's only doing it to knobble Sanders and Warren's idea of a wealth tax, despite polls showing something like 75% of us voters think taxing the super rich is fine by them

"Nearly half of all US adults have had an immediate family member incarcerated at some point in their lives, according to a new study. Researchers also reported one in seven adults have seen immediate family incarcerated for over a year, with minorities most impacted." www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-46471444That's a shocking stat but, that being said, I wonder what it is in UK.

I’d be surprised if the UK is anything like that high. The US really is obsessed with jailing people, particularly for extended periods, particularly if they’re not wealthy. This is massively encouraged by the private prison industry who rake in loads of cash, particularly if they find ways to make sure people serve extended sentences.
Both my wife’s nephews have been locked up. But, unlike many who’re in for minor narcotics offences, they totally deserved it.

Yeah, I did wonder if this perhaps have something to do with the US fondness for jail time for minor, civil matters.
Still, I do wonder about UK. I don't think I know anyone who's been in prison.

I don’t know any Brits who’ve been locked up. The few who were done for possession were fined and given a stern talking to. It’s one of the few ways Britain is more civllised than the US

This is also fecking hilarious. These people have no clue do they, of how utterly ridiculous they really are? Donald Trump Jr has been mocked for comparing the plight of fallen US soldiers to the business "sacrifices" made by his family. In his new book, the eldest son of the US president says the thought occurred to him during a visit to Arlington National Cemetery in 2017. US veterans and the families of soldiers killed in combat have accused Mr Trump of not showing proper respect. Neither Mr Trump nor any of his children have served in the military. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50338236

Well, remember he was complaining about the Biden family’s nepotism the other day. He is not well-blessed in the self-awareness department.

This is funny too qz.com/1745087/berliners-troll-trump-sending-him-a-2-7-ton-piece-of-berlin-wall/US president Donald Trump will be receiving a special gift from Berlin residents on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall—a 2.7-ton section of the wall itself. “We would like to give you one of the last pieces of the failed Berlin Wall to commemorate the United States’ dedication to building a world without walls,” says a message painted on the concrete slab, which is signed by “Citizens of Berlin.” Though you can guarantee he won't understand.
