Talking of the border wall falling down... it turns out that it basically needs to be left open in summer because geography isn't cooperative. During the South-West Monsoon (real thing), there's a huge amount of flash flooding with rapid run-off. It picks up debris and when the debris gets to the fence it gets caught between the slats. With the high water pressure from the flash floods pushing against it, the border wall collapses. So, instead, they've got a bunch of 4 foot tall flood gates that they open in the summer. These are in very inaccessible places so they can't just open them each time it's about to rain. Basically, anyone can get through, all through the summer. And the gates are so heavy that border patrol need to bring a fork-lift out to open and shut them - border patrol trucks just get pulled off the ground if they try - which means opening and closing them is a very long, slow process.

Reasonable and to the point. Could have been much harsher but he was quite the gentleman (probably hedging his bets and afraid of being accused of whining by the "we won get over it2 mob of ill-educated xenophobes who voted out. There, look wot I've gon 'n sed.

Well this would be a genuine win, about time this administration achieved something, its been a barren three years for em so far. www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-51511179All the signs emerging from the annual Security Conference in Munich are that the US and the Taliban are perhaps just days away from announcing an agreement that could pave the way for peace talks between the Afghan parties themselves and the withdrawal of US troops from the country. Washington's longest ever war could be coming to an end, and President Donald Trump - in a crucial re-election battle - may be able to make good on his promise to bring US troops home. The stakes for the Trump administration and for the US are high. Arguably the stakes for Afghanistan are even higher.

Both the unemployment rate, at 3.6 percent, and the number of unemployed persons, at 5.9 million, changed little in January. (See table A-1. For information about annual population adjustments to the household survey estimates, see the note at the end of the news release and tables B and C.) Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (3.3 percent), adult women (3.2 percent), teenagers (12.2 percent), Whites (3.1 percent), Blacks (6.0 percent), Asians (3.0 percent), and Hispanics (4.3 percent) showed little or no change over the month. (See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.) Among the unemployed, the number of reentrants to the labor force increased by 183,000 in January to 1.8 million but was little changed over the year. (Reentrants are persons who previously worked but were not in the labor force prior to beginning their job search.) (See table A-11.) Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 225,000 in January, compared with an average monthly gain of 175,000 in 2019. Notable job gains occurred in construction, in health care, and in transportation and warehousing. (See table B-1. For information about the annual benchmark process, see the note at the end of the news release and table A.) In January, construction employment rose by 44,000. Most of the gain occurred in specialty trade contractors, with increases in both the residential (+18,000) and nonresidential (+17,000) components. Construction added an average of 12,000 jobs per month in 2019. Health care added 36,000 jobs in January, with gains in ambulatory health care services (+23,000) and hospitals (+10,000). Health care has added 361,000 jobs over the past 12 months. Employment in transportation and warehousing increased by 28,000 in January. Job gains occurred in couriers and messengers (+14,000) and in warehousing and storage (+6,000). Over the year, employment in transportation and warehousing has increased by 106,000. In January, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 7 cents to $28.44. Over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 3.1 percent. Average hourly earnings of private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees were $23.87 in January, little changed over the month (+3 cents). (See tables B-3 and B-8.) www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htmmore achievements,

Still not created the same number of jobs in his 3 years as Obama did his last 3, though granted not f**k**g up the recovery might count for something, though all he had to do was keep the Obama economy going, so I'll give him that one as well, he's kept the steady growth of the economy going extending it to a 10 year run.

black unemployment has never been lower, black income has never been higher, Trump had about 8% of the black vote, is expected to get this time 15-30%, Romney got 5%
for rep to get 15% black vote it would be landslide win

yes the 10 year trend in the economy has continued, I said that, and unemployment reduction is likewise on a 10 year downward trend as well, though really its all based on the foundations that were started by the Bush administration in a small way, expanded by the Obama administration and not f**k*d up by the Trump administration. Really apart from that huge government handout to the billionaires and mega corps, he's not done much to the economy, and a good thing as its continued to purr.

What exactly did Trump do to get more blacks into work? Opportunity zones were proposed by Tim Scott, Cory Booker, Ron Kind[2] and supported by Sean Parker's Economic Innovation Group.[3] States may designate up to 25% of low-income census tracts as Opportunity Zones.[3] The first Opportunity Zones were designated in April 2018.[4] There are more than 8,764 zones in the 50 states, and five U.S. possessions, including American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.[5] Not all Opportunity Zones are in low income communities. In May 2018, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin instructed his staff to accept a non-low-income tract in Storey County, Nevada as an Opportunity Zone shortly after attending a Milken Institute event in Beverly Hills with Michael Milken.[6] Milken was already an investor in the Nevada tract.[6] Treasury later issued a regulatory guidance that allows prior investors to benefit from newly designated Opportunity Zones.[6] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opportunity_zone

More corruption coming to light, I expect lots more will come out in the near future. A lawyer for Julian Assange has alleged that President Donald Trump offered to pardon the Wikileaks founder, if he said Russia was not involved in leaking emails during the 2016 US election. The offer is said to have been conveyed by the former Republican Congressman, Dana Rohrabacher. Assange's barrister revealed the claim at Westminster Magistrates' Court ahead of an extradition hearing next week. www.bbc.com/news/uk-51566470though given Trumps obsession in trying to clear Putin from meddling in the last election, and his eagerness to have other countries meddle on his behalf in the next this is not much of a surprise tbh.

The Dems are desperate to move away from scandal, talk about Trump's shocking healthcare politics and push their own solutions. But it's really hard to move on from scandal when the scandal merchant is permanently doing scandalous stuff.

Inward investment, economic stimulus and jobs, by the look of it. Dunno how successful they've been.
