The FBI has conducted a pre-dawn raid on the Virginia home of Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, US media have reported. Mr Manafort left the Trump campaign over questions about his foreign ties. The FBI is leading one of several investigations into alleged Russian meddling in last year's US election. Anyway on the day Trumps playing golf while the worst storm in over a decade is about the batter Texas, he panders to the white supremacists by pardoning celebrated racist Joe Arpaio, but looses the neonazis Gorka (presumably at Kelly's request)

I was just about to post the same thing.
What do you do when a Category 4 storm is about to make landfall in your country? Yes, that's right, you pardon a racist who was convicted of unconstitutional conduct when he was detaining people because of their race and without any other reason. You don't bother actually dealing with the consequences of the storm.
Ironically, just about the only person Trump's appointed who is competent and actually skilled to do their job (I think the Veterans Affairs secretary who is decent was originally appointed by Obama) is the person running FEMA. So Trump at least has a marginal edge over Bush. But not much.

Pardons were never supposed to be simply to shore up the base of the president, this must be the most naked political pardon ever, and there's been a few over the years, but nothing comes close to this.

So, it was a "good day to bury news" - so cynical. Friday night, and also with a hurricane hitting.
So, they get rid of Gorka (actually, this is a good thing, but it's notable that they announce it when it'll get swamped in the news so people don't read stories about how there was a Neo-Nazi in the WhiteHouse in the first place.
And they pardon Arpaio
And they sign the order banning transgender people from serving in the military (note - this isn't banning them from getting military funded reassignment surgery, which was how this got started as an issue; it's banning them from serving at all!)
And they seem to announce they're going to end DACA, too, so kids who are in the US illegally but through no fault of their own, and who've grown up here and know no other life, are going to end up getting deported to countries that they don't know, and where they have no roots, and where they probably don't know the language.

UncleJR does seem to think calling Trump "divisive" is scandalous. And calling him a member of the KKK is no more scandalous. (Of course, the fake news here is that nobody has called Trump a member of the KKK)

Not entirely happy with this. The US debt ceiling should never be attached to any conditions, ever. It's moronic that congress votes on it at all, but it's particularly odious when the "full faith and credit" of the US is used as a bargaining chip.
They should have just passed a 2 year, or 10 year, debt ceiling increase. Congress has already agreed to spend the money, so why would they then not allow the country to borrow to pay for stuff that they've already passed?
Also, the Harvey relief package should also not have other stuff attached to it - Congress should be able to pass that on its own. If Congress can't pass hurricane relief without riders and attachments, then Congress should be taken out and dropped into the eyewall of Irma.

its one of the bigger markers of how dysfunctional the house has got over the past 7 years, not so long ago raising the debt ceiling was just a bit of meh legislation, hardly worth remarking on, but now you have one party who has been willing to burn the entire US economy down to the ground for ideological reasons for at least 6 or 7 years now, you get this kind of thing going on.
