I'm really not surprised that Trump has said this. Not only is he a misogynist, he also is a racist and was even before he was President, so why are we surprised to hear him say this kind of thing. I've just watched an interview with his biographer who pointed out many occasions where Trump and/or his companies have showed overt racism. Starting with denying black/brown people renting apartments in one of his buildings in NYC. What is disgraceful is that now he's president he thinks he's above reproach and feels free to say horrible stuff. Also may of those who voted for him think exactly the same way and will love hearing him say this.

Steve Bannon, former chief strategist to US President Donald Trump, has been summoned to testify before a grand jury, US media report. He was reportedly subpoenaed by former FBI director Robert Mueller, who is leading an inquiry into alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 election campaign. Mr Bannon appeared separately on Tuesday before a Congressional panel. I'm all in favour of Bannon being locked up, but surely this is just inevitable and not actually a big deal? We knew he'd have to talk to Mueller. We know Jared will have to. We know Don Jr will have to. The only person who'll make real news if they talk to Mueller is 45 himself.

The dysfunction at the WH continues. Donald Trump has denied changing his views on a border wall after his top aide reportedly said the president was "uninformed" when he made the promise. White House chief of staff John Kelly told Fox News the president's opinions had evolved since his signature campaign pledge on the US-Mexico wall. "Campaigning is very different from governing," Mr Kelly said on Wednesday. Hours later, the president tweeted to say Mexico would still "directly or indirectly" pay for the wall. Have the wall plans changed? US media report that the White House chief of staff told members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on Wednesday that the US would never construct a wall along its entire southern border. Mr Kelly also reportedly said Mexico would never pay for the structure, as Mr Trump has repeatedly vowed. Well I fully expect him to use it as leverage in the NAFTA talks. He wants Mexico out of NAFTA so he could bargain with them and allow them to stay in on condition they paid for the wall. He's a snake oil salesman and I wouldn't put anything past him. Fortunately Canada has seen the writing on the wall and has other trade agreements lined up or in the works. We'll probably do a trade deal with Mexico too if Trump just wants a bilateral trade agreement with us. At the moment he's not offering Canada much and he has said time and time again he wants to get out of NAFTA.

And a Forbes that had a picture of himself - and more disturbingly, his kids - on the front. Which makes the fact that he told the Porn Star that she reminded him of his daughter all the more icky. I think the news - if there is any - is not that he had a relationship with a porn star. It's that it was not long after he married Melania. And it's that he paid her $150k of hush money, and then denied he ever did shag her. Mostly it's just salacious and funny, rather than a big deal. |
