You have to give it to Trump, when he goes off message, he goes all the way. The rest of the GOP are not too happy about his latest display of his idiocy at one of his red neck Neuenburg rallies mind. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45736951

Job growth slumps in September, but the unemployment rate hits the lowest level since 1969 The unemployment rate fell two-tenths of a percentage point to 3.7 percent, the lowest level since December 1969 and one-tenth of a percentage point below expectations. Nonfarm payrolls rose just 134,000, well below estimates of 185,000 and the worst performance since last September, when a labor strike weighed on the numbers. The closely watched average hourly earnings component showed a 2.8 percent year-over-year increase, in line with Wall Street estimates. August's initial jobs count was revised up dramatically, from 201,000 to 270,000, while July's numbers came up as well, from 147,000 to 165,000. www.cnbc.com/2018/10/05/us-nonfarm-payrolls-september-2018.html

Good news the 9 year trend is continuing, it's having some very positive effects on wages as companies are having to raise their starvation wages to keep their peeps.

The revolving door continues to turn www.bbc.com/news/world/us_and_canadaNikki Haley quits as UN ambassadress, terrible human being, but not in the pocket of Putin the way her boss is, wonder how much worse the next one will be.

Nikki Haley is conveniently stepping down at a time which would make her a perfect person to be appointed next senator for South Carolina once Trump sacks Sessions and replaces him with Lindsay Graham.

Graham has said he does not want AG, as much trouble Trump has had with a senator doubt he would go for another as AG

A sitting Senator's probably the only person who Trump could get confirmed by the Senate, if he sacks a former Senator.

A lot depends on what happens on Nov 6. If the Democrats take the Senate and given the makeup of the elections, that is not a certainty. They can just do a "McConnell" and sit on any nomination, for any position for the next 2 years.
What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. The question is, would the Democrats play hard ball or try to get along.

I sadly think that's optimistic, Woolf. It's very hard for Democrats to ever win the Senate given how unbalanced it is - how Republicans live in low population, low population density states means that they are always massively over-represented in the Senate compared to the vote numbers. It's probably even worse than the house. It's particularly hard this year, with so many Red State democrats up for election. Even if the electorate votes 55-45 for Democrats nationally, they are likely to still lose seats in the Senate.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1TrY-t0ngThis recent study can shine more light on the make up of the house, and why people are voting the way they are. Exhausted Majority resonates with me I must admit.

Why do you always post 15 minute videos rather than stuff we can read?
Of course, a majority of voters voted for the Democrat in the Presidential election; and if you break down the current Senate make-up, a majority of voters in those 100 elections voted Democrat.

I'd add - you might say that you don't want majoritarian rule, that you want to protect against the potential tyranny of local majorities and to disperse power, making sure that the rural states still have a say even if they have tiny populations. That's what the US system was designed to do.
But don't bullshit us that it's a "majority".

Because the report will take you much longer to read whereas Pool has listed the salient bits.

Erm, I'm saying have a look at the video and the conclusions out of interest, nothing else, if you want to make a serious argument argue with the authors of the report after you read it all.

I've tried watching a bit of it. He seems to just be reading the report slower than I can. And now there's some hilarious spin and blatant lies. I'm stopping.

Lies? whoa, you do realise Pool is a left leaning journalist, very probably not a far left as you but definitely left leaning, so you dismiss anything you don't want to hear?
This is what J Haidt refers to as stuck in the moral matrix!

He's implying that "People concerned about immigration" are all in favour of more heavy controls on immigration; that people concerned about jobs are all aligned with the economics for the libertarian right. It is massive bullshit spin. Mostly, though, I got bored like I usually do with talking-heads when I can't break it down by reading for myself.

Read the report then, take a look at the list of authors, if you think your more qualified crackon fella!
