he was just being polite, the fact he's expressley called what Bush sanctioned at Gitanamo bay as torture is proof of his actual feelings.

Calm yer jets troops, I'll crack the jokes.
Young GW Bush is and always will be an enigma, some might say a coward and other things however no president ever faced a situation like he did in 9/11 - something he actually came out of with a lot of credit.
His Dad who was a war hero - and while no great president with an eight year mandate he certainly was no failure because he did what he promised about liberating Kuwait in 100 hours. However that left his son with a war to clear up that mistake.

My postman is a good guy...it doesn't mean he'd be a good President. The two aren't synonymous.

"no president ever faced a situation like he did in 9/11" Uhm ever heard of Pearl Harbour? Aye (I've been there) and it is in the middle of the Pacific - thousands of miles from California, i.e. not actually what the Yanks like to call 'the Continental United States' - the real important bit. You could also throw in the well founded allegations that FDR was told in advance about Pearl ................

What Puffin said. Most people that have actually met Bush say he is a warm and gracious individual. His track record as president is another matter.
