I also admire her a lot for the gig in Manchester that she did the week after the bombing and the way she conducted herself during it. Mostly just would though...

I grew up in Stockport and quite a few family/friends were at the concert when the nutter bombed it.
Agreed that Ariana is admirable. She seems a really decent person, not a "the world revolves around me" diva type that you might expect.
My daughter just saw this thread and her precise reaction was "Oh God yes, totally would". Heh, universal appeal it appears...

I'm not so sure. I think we already know that. Fuckall will happen to 'em mind. Building Control have become much, much less matey these days. They also have a good claim to say "there, I told you so." To be sure fuckall will happen, just as fuckall actually happened with the Hillsborough inquiry. A lot of Grenfel can, IMO be put done to shoddy workmanship, cost cutting, lack of supervision of labour, etc

To voice...
That's really good! The depth of the guitar and the sparse lyics.
"When you're looking up, he's looking..... down"
The pause is just that, nothing. But you know exactly what he means.

I think it's actually simpler than that: a non FIre Rated product was swapped in and an (independent/approved) building control signed off on it on his own PI.

The spread of fire externally is largely due to the cladding (supplied as part of the refurbishment, which actually compromised the original design)
However
No mention has yet been made of fire stopping between floors, in particular soil pipes, electrical ducts etc
Also, a fractured gas main that firemen had difficulty in isolating

It does sound like a shambles but I guess internal fire stopping won't help when the whole of the.outside of the buidling is on fire (when usually it would be inert brick or concrete.)

The external was the least of the problem.
I was in Dubai when the external cladding caught fire on the Address Building, most of the damage was caused by the water sprinkler system

Fire stopping is really intended to prevent the various fire protected compartments and escape routes being compromised. That's buggered when the fire goes around. I bet the external windows weren't 30/30, let alone 60/30 fire rating.

If you work on a major contract in London, you go through a “gang master”
Most of the labour is immigrant.
They do as they are told.
Stories from residents, who complained about the work were told to STFU
The whole system is corrupt

Both specialisms were "privatised" long ago. Who pays the piper .....

Interesting coverage of the Manchester terrorist bomb attack anniversary on Today ....everyone that is interviewed is full of grief and regret , but I it very odd the so called bbc can find lots and lots of angry grenfell voices, whenever they are featured ,but cant find a single angry hateful voice from the concert slaughter... Probably because they still believe there is a lot of blame to be laid for Grenfell with local government, rehousing those left homeless etc. With Manchester the person responsible is dead so seems a waste of time to be angry about it.

Thing about Grenfel is it wasn't tarted up for the residents, it was made to look nice cos lots of richer folk had to look at it, so they didn;t exactly pay too much attention to the residents and their safety, as that wan't their main concern
