About time, I just hope that other Judges take note and follow his advice.
Its not just women who are traumatised though Jonren, it affects some men too, particularly the elderly.
I'm all for a tentant having the right to use whatever he can to defend him/herself from these intruders.
Anybody who breaks into somebodies house, leaves his "Civil rights" at the door.

About time indeed! Burglary is a complete violation of a person's home. A home is supposed to feel like a safe haven and when violated can never feel the same. Having someone rummage through your personal possessions and take personal effects of great sentimental value puts a mark on your life forever. Insurance is no recompense for losing something precous to you. Some things can't be replaced. Quite apart from the fact that your once safe haven will never feel safe again. Jail with a long sentence is the only way forward! A burglary inflicted on an old man or woman's home is horrendous as it has a horrendous effect on most old folk. The shock can even kill the frail and elderly.
I agree with Scooby, the burglar leaves his civil rights at the door! I also agree that the home owner/tenant should have the right to defend themselves against burglars without the fear of being prosecuted etc.
