There's loads of crews stuck on ships all over on ships abandoned by owners or from companies that went bust, during COVID it was even worse.
Though the most famous abandoned crews were in the Bitter Lake half way up Suez who's ships were stuck from 1967 to 1974

Michael Deacon in the DT on the state broadcaster not calling a legally defined terrorist group – Islamic Hamas – terrorists … ( it’s because they are a spokesman for Hamas ) –
STARTS Why is the BBC still being so stubborn? On Sunday, Lord Cameron urged it to stop beating around the bush, and start calling Hamas what they are: terrorists. That’s how they’re officially classified, under the law of this land.
Yet the BBC ignored him. The very next morning, on Radio 4’s Today programme, Nick Robinson instead referred to Hamas as “the group he [Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel] calls terrorists”.
I don’t mean to blame Mr Robinson himself. He was only following orders from BBC bosses. But his phrasing made it sound as though calling Hamas terrorists is somehow questionable, controversial, dubious. Or a mere matter of taste, as if the group were the geopolitical equivalent of Marmite. Murderous anti-Semites: you either love ’em or hate ’em!
Of course, the BBC claims to have its reasons. Deborah Turness, the head of BBC News, says its reporting must always be scrupulously “objective”. And John Simpson, its world affairs editor, has said that the broadcaster doesn’t use “loaded words”.
This argument, however, simply doesn’t stack up. Because, if the BBC is so painstakingly “objective” and hostile to “loaded words”, why doesn’t it seem to take this nobly impartial approach to certain other issues?
For example, the BBC often uses the term “far-Right”. Take the following headlines from the BBC News website: “Going to the extreme: Inside Germany’s far Right”, “Germany spying: Far-right party aide held in China spy probe”, “Dublin riots: Immigration’s complicated role in growing Ireland’s far right” and “Far-right parties on the rise across Europe”.
Plainly, though, “far-Right” is a “loaded word”. After all, few people or parties describe themselves as “far-Right”. Almost invariably, it’s a description used by those who disapprove of them. So no wonder Richard Tice, the leader of Reform UK, was appalled in March when the BBC described his party as such. The BBC duly apologised.
It has never apologised, however, for its approach to gender identity. Look how it treated Justin Webb – Mr Robinson’s colleague on the Today programme – after he told listeners in August 2023 that trans women are “males”. Mr Webb was not expressing a personal opinion. He was making a statement of indisputable scientific fact. Because, if trans women weren’t males, they wouldn’t be trans – they would be “cisgender” (the term that trans activists use to describe biological women). Yet, the BBC upheld a complaint against Mr Webb for a breach of impartiality rules.
That doesn’t strike me as terribly balanced, impartial or “objective”. So if the BBC continues to insist on not calling Hamas terrorists, it had better become more consistent – or find a new excuse.ENDS….

Today is the anniversary of Lee Rigby’s murder and also the Manchester Arena bombing.
Let’s play a game. How much time will the BBC devote to either/both of these today?
🤔

They'll probably slaughter a couple of goats and bring in taxis-full of uncovered meat for a thoroughly vibrant time.

It occured to me this morning that it must be galling and demotivating for a media company to struggle with staying afloat and producing quality all the time that The Daily Star exists.

Different audience, those who want actual news, in the classic sence of knowing the facts who was there and what happened ect. don't read the Mail, Daily Star, Express, Mirror, Sun or Beano, cos that's not what they are about.

Not sure there is, it's why news, when it was facts and what happened rather than opinion and spin, was for most outlets a loss leader. Outage sells better, so they give us outrage.

The Star doesn't do that. For the past two days, it's been a staffer with his shirt off, being a slob.

BBC apologises again for reporting the bare facts. Once again showing how it is utterly beholden to, and captured by, the British Extreme Right.

BBC apologises for extreme, far left bias against a centrist commentator.
