I think Rick is confusing the reason why humans are doing something with a biological purpose beside something.
Not even religious organisations tend to say it’s just about procreation though. They often cite is as an important form of “bonding” between woman and husband.

The irony is of course is so many of these extreme evangelicals who preach about abstinence, sex only for procreation, no bumbfoolery and so on are massive perverts, I've lost count of the number caught snorting crack off the bear arse of a rent boy in a motel somewhere, or finding out they like to watch their wife getting banged by the pool boy, and they do like em young, they are main opponents to stopping child marriage in the US.
