Here's the dirt on Lauer. It looks f**k**g terrible from NBC. At best they were massively negligent, given that they had tons of reports and did nothing because they thought Lauer brought in advertising revenue (which suggests they're also complete idiots). But, in reality, it looks worse than that. It looks like they were actively enabling him... His office was in a secluded space, and he had a button under his desk that allowed him to lock his door from the inside without getting up. This afforded him the assurance of privacy. It allowed him to welcome female employees and initiate inappropriate contact while knowing nobody could walk in on him, according to two women who were sexually harassed by Lauer.

"James Clyburn defends Conyers: Hey, unlike Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose, he was elected""Since the Lauer news broke this morning I’ve seen a half-dozen variations of the joke that he’s now qualified to run for Congress." " But there’s more to it than that. Unlike “Today” host Lauer, Congressman Lauer would still have his job today. You’re about to see why. Here’s James Clyburn, the number three Democrat in the House, fielding a good question. If Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey and Bill O’Reilly and Charlie Rose and now Matt Lauer were all held accountable for their misdeeds by losing their jobs, why shouldn’t Conyers lose his?" :To which Clyburn replies, without missing a beat, “Who elected them?” hotair.com/archives/2017/11/29/james-clyburn-defends-conyers-hey-unlike-matt-lauer-charlie-rose-elected/"NPR’s Chief News Editor departs amid sexual harassment allegations by three women"hotair.com/archives/2017/11/29/npr-news-editor-steps-sexual-harassment-allegations/

If that response from Clyburn is real, it's shocking on two counts -
one, people didn't have the information when voting for Conyers, so they weren't voting based on that knowledge.
two, it's tactically disastrous given that it looks like Roy Moore is going to get elected. And he's basically saying that if Moore gets elected there should be no criticism.

Amazing. I am sure there are plenty of men out there slamming other men for sexual assault...hoping their own dirty secrets don’t come out.

Women'll never be accused of harassment because the moment any women hits on a man, the man jumps at the opportunity.

I've heard dozens of accounts of men in largely female workplaces being subjected to a torrent of sexual innuendo and occasionally groping. It's nearly always young blokes - late teens/early 20s and older women. Most of them weren't that bothered although one or two were but I just don't think it occurs to most blokes to object.

Also men view access to women as a perk, or the point of power. No woman thinks being the bigwig means she gets to be inappropriate with men. And she’d be shamed for being a s.lut if she tried. Don’t forget for all the women coming forward now, The are many many many many many many more brushing it off / too worried about repercussions to say anything.

That said how men choose to react to harassment is neither here nor there.
And I think it’s a myth that a man would jump at an approach form any woman. I have never heard of a woman who has hit on a man and not suffered a couple of knockbacks.

I've come to the conclusion that men are more psychologically resilient than women when it comes to getting attacked and abused, particularly the lower level stuff. There seems to be much more of an attitude of "oh well, not to worry". Whether it's innate or by upbringing or what, I don't know. I'm also not saying men are superior because of it, just that it seems to be "a thing".

I'm also not saying men are superior because of it, just that it seems to be "a thing". They aren't more psychologically resilient (hello: suicide rate), they just aren't: a) Subjected to it on the same scale women are - not remotely. b) Don't have the fear of physical danger women do. Put those together and of course you hear less men coming forward with tales of abuse. Note women speaking out about what happens to them isn't really a sign of poor resilience - particularly as in a number of cases they sit on it for decades and move on with their lives*. They're just telling men that this behaviour is Not. Okay. It would benefit men to listen instead of whining about women speaking up. *Also note most women who are harassed / abused don't actually raise it employers/police.

More women than men try to commit suicide. Men are just better at it. The end.

So men are not more psychologically resilient. They’re just more rapey. So of course they have less to say on the issue...

The same Matt Lauer who grilled and interrupted Hillary Clinton about emails during an interview that was meant to be about foreign policy, but threw nothing but total fawning softballs at the Republican candidate who, perhaps not coincidentally, was also in the middle of a sex-scandal story? That one?
