I think I might encourage my nephew to dress up as a Nazi. Does Poundland sell Prince Harry costumes?

I think I might encourage my nephew to dress up as a Nazi. I assumed you already did that. But not as dress-up

My niece wants to dress up like Lewis Hamilton. Should I let her. I've got the Cherry Blossom to hand. It’s weird it’s only when boys wear typically girl outfits people have a problem with it. Very interesting...

Lewis Hamilton and Scoobs. Can’t imagine how you got to that. Why you get bent out of shape over a young woman who died years ago is something you should be asking yourself. Have you been drinking?

Interesting question.
Kids dressing up as abstract good/bad - sweet princess, noble prince... Satan, witch or ghost at halloween, etc... - no worries. I don't give a stuff about 'gender roles' either, ffs we have a female Prime Minister and blimey my first OC in the RAF was a woman. Aren't we over the gender stereotyping now? As Van said, let kids be kids and let them dress up as (traditionally) either sex, 'cos it doesn't matter, they're just playing.
A Nazi though; they would presumably want to because they understand and empathise with a genuinely hateful ideology.
That's not abstract, it's also generally not taught until they're older so I'd sure have had concerns if my daughter had wanted to dress up as a Nazi when she was little. Same as I'd wonder what the f**k was going on if she wanted to dress up as KKK.

And blacking up? Let kids be kids and dress up as whatever they want. Other genders, other ethnicities etc.

You must be in favour of kids dressing up as Nazis. Ok Mids. I’m in favour of there being no gender restrictions on child’s play. If you’re ok with your niece wearing Nazi uniforms then there is no reason to have an issue with your nephew doing likewise.

Same as I'd wonder what the f**k was going on if she wanted to dress up as KKK. It’s not really interesting it’s just Mids doing his normal silly skit. Deliberately missing that it’s about placing no gender restrictions so his Nazi analogy is silly. But if Mids was happy with his niece wearing Nazi uniforms but not his nephew then yep, that would make no sense at all. I agree with you, unless the child actually has to use their genitalia to play with the toy, then why allow boys to play with things girls can’t and vice versa? What is interesting though is why some people think it’s so inportant to gender stereotype young children and the toys they are allowed to play with. What’s the benefit?

So to recap, Vania is all in favour of letting kids be kids and dress up however they wish. This includes any gender or ethnicity they like and, of course, includes any makeup thought necessary to complete the role.

Ah and there we have it.
Vania, "it's oh so important that kids be kids and dress up however they like. They should be free to choose anything at all from the approved-of dressing up box."

If anyone dressed up in Nazi uniform here...(I assume that's what we're talking about - the WWII style of dress rather than the ideology itself which demands no uniform nowadays)... you'd be arrested. Quite a neat law for a minor country.
