The woked didn't like statues of confederate military leaders so they tore them down and disappeared them from history. If they were disappeared from history, we wouldn't know that they were slavery supporting racists who actually put their and other lives on the line and fought a treasonous war to try and make sure that white people could own other people as chattel. No. We still know the history. We don't need to commemorate these arseholes in our public spaces, though. |

To be fair about the Gadsden flag, it has been adopted by the far right. Nobody's going to have a "Don't Tread On Me" slogan who's not basically opposed to the US government doing anything - these people believe that taxation is them being trodden on, that firearms regulation is them being trodden on, and so on, that environmental regulation is them being trodden on, that allowing poor people to get healthcare rather than having the sick walking the streets infecting everyone is them being trodden on, and so forth.

Hey, give the sensitive lil darlings time. Year Zero can't be put in place overnight. Get rid of things like statues and paintings that people see first, then get to work on re-writing history books. If a mural of George Washington or the mention of his name triggers the woked into fits of rage, despair, and depression, you think they will allow his picture, or any mention of him, in history books?
