As I understand it, face shiellds are at best a secondary protection.
First up, they clearly don’t perform the primary task that cloth masks do - which is to protect other people from you.
And secondly, they don’t necessarily protect you. They might - if the disease is transmitted through eyes and so on. But the disease seems to primarily be a respiratory one, and the shields won’t do much to protect your respiratory tracts.

Had to visit our field techs to make sure everyone was using PPE appropriately and one of the guys was wearing a surgical mask, a face covering and a shield too.
I genuinely thought he was taking the piss but no.
No worries though, if that's what he wants to wear. He's a big fella mind and it makes him look somewhat like Robocop.
