There's an almost Tom Sharpesque bitter comic inevitability about this story: www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63996981"Eight people have been taken to hospital and four are in a critical condition after an incident at a concert venue in south London. Police were called to the Brixton O2 Academy at 21:35 GMT on Thursday, during a gig by afro-pop singer Asake. Officers were responding to reports of a large number of people trying to force their way into the venue. A number of people were found with injuries believed to have been caused by crushing, police said. An investigation has been launched and cordons remain in place at the venue on Stockwell Road. No arrests have been made. It was the third of three sold-out shows the Nigerian singer, sometimes known as Mr Money, had performed in Brixton. Cdr Ade Adelekan from the Metropolitan Police said the scene will be examined by specialist officers as part of an investigation which will be "as thorough and as forensic as necessary". He said: "This is an extremely upsetting incident which has left four people critically ill in hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families." The Met's directorate of professional standards will view all material, including body worn video footage from the officers at the scene, Scotland Yard said." An afro-beat performance basically gets steamed by a bunch of across who end up killing and injuring other as well as ruining the event. The event itself has to be heavily policed and is commanded by an afro police officer. So far, so vibrant. The outcome is inevitable: the police immediately look to blame themselves. And so it begins ..... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64263074

I see. Interesting.
"Afrobeats and Dancehall gigs are classed as level five, the highest risk."
Ah.
""late arriving" and "noncompliant" audiences - are listed as potential issues at level five events"

What answers do they want? Their loved ones are dead. Killed in a crush. I can't see that as the fault of anyone apart from the crushers.

I wonder what quantity of "answers" they're looking for?

The "demand for answers" thing was driving me mad earlier today when watching a news report. Not about this, obviously. But about the 6 year old in Virginia who shot his teacher after taking a loaded gun into school. All the parents were at a school board meeting "demanding answers" and "demanding something should be done" and so on. Apparently unaware that this is the governing body for schools and not the people who allow loaded guns in homes so therefore make it trivially easy for 6 year olds to take loaded guns and sneak them into school. The answers are that there are way too many guns in this country, way too many people with guns, that regulations for having guns are broadly non-existent, and the judiciary has been taken over by people who are absolute insane extremists on the second amendment and think that any regulations at all are too many.

They surely have to hold the parents accountable.

I was thinking about that, but what for, doing what every other gun owner in the could and can do, keep a legal firearm at home. There is no requirement to secure the gun or the ammunition.
One rather macabre statistic I saw recently, toddlers shoot and kill more people in any given year in the US than all gun deaths here in Canada.

They surely have to hold the parents accountable. That’s what you’d think and hope. But no. These parents are concerned about what the school board does. About metal detectors and transparent backpacks an security guards. In primary schools. Not about the parents or gun rights or the second amendment or the judiciary.

One rather macabre statistic I saw recently, toddlers shoot and kill more people in any given year in the US than all gun deaths here in Canada. 1) Have you assumed the gun the 6 year old accessed was held legally? 2) Even if it was obviously it was not secured properly if a 6 year old could help themself to it. There was a very similar case recently in Yankland where a 10 year shot his mother because he was annoyed she took his game from him. I just wonder why these parents aren’t securing their guns away from such young children. I agree the law probably does not allow this to happen currently but it should. The statistic about the toddlers is scary and demonstrates a whole load of crappy parenting.

I wonder what quantity of "answers" they're looking for? I expect it'll be a seven figure answer, at least.

If events and gigs are banned whenever somebody tries to enter without a ticket….it would mean no events or gigs would ever be held again. I've been to loads of gigs but I've never come across crowds of 100s or even 1000s trying to force their way in. In fact I can't remember anyone ever trying to force their way in. I went to a gig last night, first one in ages. It was at the Powerhaus in Camden. What utterly surprised me was the lack of deaths. In fact nobody seemed to get hurt at all. In fact it was all very good natured. Odd. It was Robert Jon and the Wreck by the way. Sort of Southern rock/ jam band type of thing.

I fell asleep during Back to the Future 3 at the cinema. It was a first date. ( with a woman to stave off the inevitable...).
