I watched the first 5 minutes of one of the new Planet of the Apes films on a plane. It was all just fighty runny CGI action stuff - it felt like all the plot must have happened in an earlier movie. I just got bored and switched it off.

I'm sitting on the veranda watching the garden grow. So many shades of green splattered with trillions of tiny warm rain drops, a jungle of light strewn diamonds. The sun is dipping and the sky is changing from steel blue into a thunder black over the mountains.I might get bored and switch it off in a minute.

Jack Reacher.
For a second time. Forgot I had watched it already.

Not yet, but soon I think.I'm watchful for her arrival and she usual brings a jug of liquor, almond flavour, as sweet as the sweat of her thighs. She will appear from jungle and smiling will walk up the sandstone crushed path to the veranda. Sometimes she also brings small potatoes, and if there is enough liqour they will be boiled tender in what we don't drink.

Watched:
The first few episodes of Baby Reindeer. It's interesting enough, I suppose.
Also, the first few episodes of Wilderness. It's as if you'd fed all the slightly girly thrillers - Gone Girl, Big Little Lies, Little Fires Everywhere, Girl On The Train, etc - into an AI and let it write the most predictable script. It's the kind of thing you can stick on in the background while doing something more interesting.
Also, the first two episodes of The Diplomat, which so far has been bloody excellent. I've really liked Keri Russell since The Americans, and this might be the kind of show that ends up like that - slowly everyone realising that it's great.

Just watched "Under Paris" on Netflix. I love a trashy disaster movie, and they really don't get much trashier. Jaws goes mutant in the Seine. One of the most ridiculous things I've watched in a long time, and I watched The Meg II. I enjoyed it massively but can imagine that others might, um, struggle with how spectacularly stupid it is.

I saw that. Decent enough but daft. I think the key to success in those types of films is a general decent quality, no matter the dumbness of the plot and/or script. I saw some film about Atlantis the other day which had some of the worst CGI monsters I've seen and interior scenes that were of sub original Star Trek quality. I couldn't finish it.
