That shiny shiny stuff on a roll was what you used to get in public toilets, schools and government buildings. I think the idea was that it was so useless that nobody would nick it. I remember going to RNAS Yeovilton and each sheet was stamped "Property of HM Government" so someone clearly hadn't been put off.

I always assumed that in school it was just to make sure you waited until you got home before you had a crap so the school wouldn't have to pay the cleaners so much.

The cotton famine during the US Civil War brought massive hardship and starvation across lancashire, the Manchester Guardian, as it was then, reflected the attitude there at the time that anything to end the blockade of the traitor states was of utmost importance.
Still after 160 years they have recognized it was stupid and short sighted thing to have wanted the South to succeed in order to get the cotton mills working again.
Wonder if the Mail will wait till 2180 to apologize for supporting Hilter and the Nazis?

I see the Guardian have taken to pushing out wyymmyynn of colour. "The chief executive of the publisher of the Guardian will step down after a power struggle with its editor over control of the title's future. Annette Thomas will leave the Guardian Media Group (GMG) at the end of the month amid simmering tensions over finances and strategy with Katharine Viner, the editor-in-chief. Ms Thomas joined the company in March 2020. The Telegraph revealed last month that Ms Viner and Ms Thomas had clashed over “who calls the shots” and last week reported on plans for a boardroom shake-up at the title’s owner." www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2021/06/09/guardian-boss-steps-wake-power-struggle/

She's clearly a racist. She's sacked a black.

It'll be interesting to see what her reparations/severance package is, given that the Guardian is perpetually insolvent.

It's not a bad stab at an answer although it could be complete bollocks.

We're agreed then. The Guardian is a wankstain on the sheets of British society.
