I can only repeat the cartoon in this edition of Private Eye.
It shows a Labour candidate talking to two Brexit supporting people and saying:
Why won't you Racist Fascists vote Labour?

Corbyn was rubbish. It's just that his rubbishness wasn't the reasons that are being made out by the disingenuous Labour Right. It wasn't because he was an antisemite, and it wasn't because he wasn't tritely nationalistic and flag-wavey enough. He was nationalistic and flag-wavey. Just not for Britain.

And it's true on both levels:
The racists and gammons will never vote Labour so it's weird that the Labour right seems obsessed with trying to appeal to them
and
Calling all Brexit voters (and working class small town northerners) racist is immensely offensive and stupid

Some might say that Corbyn was nationalsocialistic.

Meanwhile, if Scotland had FPTP like Labour and Tories seem to think is the best voting system, the SNP would have a comically huge majority (and the Lib Dems would be the official opposition!!!!).

You make that sound like a bad thing. If it's the democratic will of the Scots, good luck to 'em.

Yeah, but it's not the will of the Scots. The SNP have under 50% of the vote and almost 90% of the fptp seats. The Tories and Labour each have three times as many votes as the Libs, yet have fewer fptp seats.

I genuinely cannot fathom how Labour think telling people your racists and you have to be ashamed of your country was going to gain them votes, the reaction to the race report from labour really pissed a lot of people off!

It's interesting that Labour's successes have come in places like Salford or Wales or with people like Andy Burnham, still pretty left-wing approaches. The failures have come in places where the focus has been on the purge of any evidence of the Corbyn years, and on trying to appeal to the gammons with flags and beer and football and no opposition to all of the Tory corruption and disasters and no actual policy.

South wales lives in the 1980's politically, they still spout on about thatcher and mines, labour could pickle babies in acid and they would still be elected round here, it's purely tribal!
I ask the guys who vote labour in work what labour policies they suppport and they can't even quote one, you will never get rid of labour here!

Just been listening to Len McCluskey on BBC R4. He is a terrible tosser. He said they Labour need to convince people that they are on their side. No, you knob. They don't believe you because a) you've been saying pish that for decades, and, b) you say that to everyone. Just as well he's retiring, the stale fart.
Also, he said that the Conservatives won the last election on a single issue, Brexit. Horseshit. So why have they just f**k*d you even harder up the arse?
Unions. Thick, bullshitting, dinosaurs.

Do we still have anyone here willing to defend Labour? Doesn't seem like it.

Is blood-letting really the right phrase? It gets used a lot in situations like this but blood letting is an old fashioned medical procedure, letting small amounts of blood and is supposed to be a curative. Blood bathing maybe?

as ootlg has said before me - UK politics works best when we have a strong opposition.
Labour really needs to get their act together.
