"Chat about football or cricket in the workplace should be curtailed, a management body has warned. Chartered Management Institute head Ann Francke said sports banter can exclude women and lead to laddish behaviour such as chat about sexual conquests. "A lot of women, in particular, feel left out," she told the BBC's Today programme. "They don't follow those sports and they don't like either being forced to talk about them or not being included." www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51261999If the lads aren't allowed to talk about sport, how else will the little women know it's time to stick the kettle on?

South Africa are 201-4 and I shagged two Birds and a ladyboy last week.
That sort of common office banter?

"The thought police would get him just the same. He had committed - would have committed, even if he had never set pen to paper - the essential crime that contained all others in itself. Thoughtcrime, they called it. Thoughtcrime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you."

A little odd, all round. Do women not watch sport? Do women not have sexual conquests? Is sport the only exclusionary matter of conversation?
Is it important to stop the plebians associating with each other and making idle smalltalk and becoming friendly, because that could lead to cooperation among the underling classes and that could lead to unionisation, revolution, or possibly minor dents in the profits?

Also, won't somebody please think about the poor old middle-aged, middle class white men who don't give a monkey's jizz for association football?

It's funny that the upper classes at the posh institute for chartered management mention cricket and football as exclusionary but don't mention eggchasing.
It's almost as if the toffs are upset about being excluded because they only watch toffball, and it's nothing to do with equality at all.

Nah, it's just that we have brains and personalities and don't need to discuss Kevball with the workforce.

Aww. Poor thing feels excluded.
Saracens. Financial doping. Beery arseholes. Rapey and gay songs. Muddy men with their heads between each others legs. Something something New Zealand. Surrey stockbrokers desperately attempting to mimic football fandom but doing it in an utterly pathetic way.
Feel better now?

Sports —> chat about sexual conquests?
Huh? What kind of workplaces are these? The only issue with sports chat in the workplace is when the one Rugby obsessed dude refuses to accept nobody else’s likes it and tries to bore people to tears recounting rugby news they are not interested in.

Anyway daft idea. There will always be some topic that exclude some people in the office. That’s life. Just find people who want to discuss things you want to discuss and move on.

I don't find talking about sport interesting, full stop.

Also as a bloke who works mostly with women, can I just say that I am now far better versed in period problems, general vaginal topics, the new bloke in Radiation Metrology with the lovely arse, beauty stuff, sex, summer holidays, social media, Celebrity Fluid Exchange and food than heretofore. **
OK, so I've lost touch with Saracens United and how crap they are at the crease, but at least I know how to avoid showering with dry shampoo.
** NB: No mention of equality / inequality, obvs.

Most women I meet are too scared to even explain what they need painkillers for, so embarrassing a topic they view periods as. And as for mentioning vaginas...you work with some progressive women!
