I don't see colour, so it's never crossed my mind.

Apparently he's a massive cuckold and his wife has been shagging friends of their kids. He's in thrall to her.

Can't be great for the kids to know their Mum's a dirty bag o' carrots.

The consensus of the few I’ve asked about this seem to think that the whole thing looked somewhat contrived. I’ve yet to see the action myself, but nothing much surprises me about Hollywood any more.
And anyway, The Power of the Dog should have won at least 42 Oscars because it’s great. It makes Citizen Kane look like The Bonfire of the Vanities.

Comedians made these type of jokes all the time in the early 1970's - right on national tv as a matter of fact. Everyone could make fun of minorities and ethnics - back and forth - and no one was "Officially Offended". But then tolerance wore thin and slowly eroded. Polish jokes used to be common, but seemed to end when they elected a Polish Pope. Downhill ever since . .

Citizen Kane was a terrible film and I will die on that hill…

I’ve never seen Citizen Kane. Although I saw the very dull film about the making of Citizen Kane last year.
I’ve also never seen Bonfire of the Vanities, although I did read the book which is great fun.

Citizen Kane was a landmark. It was innovative in many respects and a damn good story of a flawed man. Mind you, I watched it on a laptop, relaxed in a campervan, on a Sunday afternoon under the Australian sun, with a young wife and and a bottle of wine. Pretty much impossible to not like anything then.
Dunno if its reputation of the greatest movie ever is deserved. Having never watched The Godfather and many other candidates - don't have an opinion.
This is possibly the most extreme thread-drift ever.

Now The Godfather is a superb movie. As is TGF part 2.
Part three can and should be skipped.

I've never seen Citizen Kane. That Adil Ray's annoying.

Whose young wife was it?

I used to like Will Smith. He sat there and laughed at a very mild joke then decided he should get offended about it and show how manly he is. What a putz. Chris Rock came out looking like the one with class.
Watched Power of the Dog the other night. I thought it was good, had a very real look and feel to it.
As hammer says Citizen Kane was a landmark, mostly in cinematography. Another good film by Welles is Touch of Evil.

Yeah, watched that about a year ago. I mentioned I was surprised to see that it was directed by Charles Laughton.
