Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie denounced former President Donald Trump in a speech Thursday night and said the GOP must rid itself of him and his cult of personality.

He also directly confronted Trump’s insistence that he somehow won the 2020 election — a baseless conspiracy theory the former president and his allies have been promulgating since he lost to Joe Biden in November. “Pretending we won when we lost is a waste of time, energy and credibility,” Christie said.

I see they are doing just this in the CA recall election, saying if the recall fails its proof itself of corruption, not that they failed to persuade enough to vote for it, if they loose any election its proof the system is rigged and there is massive fraud against them.

I've said this a few times, I can see the US ceasing to be a functioning democracy within the next 10 to 15 years if this continues. You simply cant maintain a liberal democracy if only party is invested in democratic norms while the other does all it can to undermine it.

Though the grift and the positioning to be the next cult leader is also very much part of the GOP these days.
