Yeah but I'm not a serving officer and as I now have Canadian citizenship and had the whole swearing allegiance thing I don't think it's much of an issue. Though obviously if I joined an armed rebellion where BC violently attacked Canada cos we wanted to start owning people as property then I'd be a traitor to the country I swore allegiance to.
As for Cromwell, he wasn't exactly the same as the king whoes head he helped lop off was allinging with foreign powers to invade and subjugate the sovereign parliament to impose catholicism against the will of most of the populace. So really the traitor was Charlie boy.

It won't be a shrine to right-wing bellends because they have literally no idea who it was or what it commemorated or, in fact, any of the history of the era at all. They only knew because of the existence of this statue. Now it's been cancelled they don't know anything so won't know to worship it. That's what we're told is the consequence of it being cancelled.
