That slavery happened thousands of years ago is completely irrelevant to the fact that the US kept slaves long after almost all the rest of western civilisation had stopped. And even that's not as relevant as the fact that the part of the US that fought a war in order to keep slaves is still celebrated and lauded and that war is celebrated and the people who fought to keep slaves are treated as heroes by large parts of US society today. |
