That's definitely a more stable canoe than the ones we rented. If you moved about 2 inches from the center line it suddenly got all wobbly and listing. We went past one couple who had managed to capsize theirs - good job they were wearing life-vests (and the river is incredibly shallow) because she kept shouting "I can't swim!" while her husband was trying to pull her the 6 feet to shore...

Probably some cheap plastic thing.
Though it may just have needed a decent load to be stable

It was ancient and made of metal and very uncomfortable to sit in. I don't think I'm built for multi-day canoe trips...

Sounds like a Grumond, not the best, but lots of rental companies use em cos they indestructible, unlike out fiberglass and Kevlar ones that can get holed of you hit something unexpectedly sharp.

So, I was out for a 60 mile bike ride this morning and joined up with a group some of whom had B.A.M.E on their shirts. I’ll probably ride with them again, But it’s going to get confusing. I already struggle with remembering what BAME stands for, and now I’m going to told that it’s “Bad Ass Muffin Eaters”. Every time Mids refers to Bamers on this site now, I’m going to think of people eating sweet cupcakey things….

So, I had a nice breakfast and then went for a lovely walk around Lewes. Then lunch on the terrace of a nice bistro. Home and a kip on the sofa for an hour.
Nice.

I went out for a run earlier. I'm doing a half marathon in October; the first I've done for about 15 years. What's good is I'm injury free so far although it's early days. Still, legs crossed.

It's too hot to go outside today, so just making up the meals for my trip while keeping half an eye on the Taffies getting spanked by the Danes

Good luck. Don’t overtrain, and don’t try and go too fast in training. My first half-marathon I heeded that sensible advice. My second I didn’t and really struggled. My third I really didn’t and f**k*d my knee in training and missed it completely,

Thanks. I think I've cracked the overtraining bit by being too old and unfit to run very far or fast yet.

Yeah, but at some point some fitness comes back and you start thinking “I can maintain (X) minute mile pace for 2 miles, perhaps I can do it for 4 and extend that”. Don’t fall into that trap.
X = a big number for me, smaller for almost everyone else

Yeah, true. I have a theory about running off-road which is what I've mostly been doing. It slows you down and the relatively uneven surface conditions your lower limbs. Not fell running or owt because it's flat as a pancake round here. Just dirt tracks and grassy bits, with occasional paved road.

X = a big number for me, smaller for almost everyone else I remember that. The feeling that you can just keep going.

Canoes. Haven't been for years, but the first thing they taught us was how to rollover. Don't they do that anymore?
Big storms last night. Trees down. Floods. Below average temperatures. After being too hot.

Very muggy here today. Expect thunderstorm. Shame it wasn't last night. Facebook is alive with stories of farm gate locks being cut and fences damaged, livestock loose and shite everywhere.
Kids being kids of course, but the lack of decency and the willingness just to do what you want is quite depressing.
I sabotaged a few cars this morning just for the sake of good form. Then some chit of a girl came and asked where the train station was and broke down in tears. Mates had left her behind, phone was dead and didn't know where she was. She wanted to get home to South Wales. From West Sussex.

And now she's chained up in your shed. That'll teach her.
