You should get that on a hat, with a question mark at the end of it. Then walk along the prom. A sort of updated "Kiss Me Quick" hat.

Yeah, I'm not happy with "safeguards" when we still have so much trouble with FMG. I use that example advisedly, as it seems to me that it's elderly women who are most likely to be failed by protective measures.

They all welcome death, I'm more an angel of mercy.
Joking aside, I heard all the fears and objections here when Trudeau was passing the assisted dying bill, but in the almost 10 years of it being implemented few of those fears, if any, have been realised. You can't ask your elderly relatives be offed, you can't sign on someone else's behalf, you can't choose to have it cos you're suicidal.
I hope it passes in the UK, when I worked in the UK in palliative care, I was asked constantly why couldn't just end it for them, we don't let animals suffer, so why is it acceptable to let people?

I'm sympathetic to the offing argument, but what's missing from your list is any evidence to suggest that old people haven't been persuaded (intentionally or not) that they should get on with it. Of course, there's only one witness to that, and they're not talking ...

Looks like the snuffers have won in the first round. 7-6, ish. I suppose it'll move on to the HoL now, so we'll see what the coffin-dodgers have to say about it.
