It's a wierd reaction. The SS did some horrific things, but I don't believe that service in the Waffen-SS was in itself criminal. That should have been clarified.
I understand why the French right would want to distance themselves from any suggestion that the SS weren't pure evil, but the bloke's fundamentally correct.

It's an odd question to bring up in an interview. Was the journo looking for a gotcha? Anyway, it may well be true that they didn't all do bad stuff. I don't know enough to say but he could have answered it better. Something like, "The SS, like the British Labour party are, were a vile and evil organisation. Were all the members vile and evil? Maybe not, but as a whole, yes".

Her CV reads like the very model of a smug, selfish, establishment arsehole.

"An Irish shipping company has stopped accepting freight that has travelled through Cherbourg because of issues caused by migrant stowaways. Hyland Shipping, based in Dublin, told BBC News NI that it encountered "unprecedented" problems last week. CCTV footage from the company warehouse showed six men jumping from the inside of one trailer. Managing director Tino Hyland said there was evidence of stowaways in nine trailers last week. He said all the vehicles had passed through the French port." www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c722ewjx5dpo.ampYou can't help but wonder if this is more of a problem for the Eurish now Rishi's Rwanda Humanitarian Miracle has started to take effect. Also, if they've damaged property to get into the containers, they should just be deported immediately as criminals.

Maybe we should just let it be known and understood that all containers will be passed through a chamber of poison gas before being released.

They should be locked up for this alone.

The more I think about it, the more I think, "Who the fuck do these people think they are? Who appointed them immigrant escorts?"

"McDonald's no longer has the exclusive right to use the label "Big Mac" in reference to chicken burgers sold in the European Union after a ruling by the EU's highest court. The American fast-food chain popularised the nickname for large burger sandwiches, registering it as a trademark in the EU in 1996. But following a legal challenge from a rival chain in Ireland, other companies will now be free to use the name "Mac" to sell poultry products or in their chains' names. The European Court of Justice found that McDonald's could not show it had made genuine use of the trademark for a continuous period of five years. "McDonald's loses the EU trade mark 'Big Mac' in respect of poultry products," the judges ruled. McDonald's noted in a statement that the court's decision did not affect its right to use the "Big Mac" trademark. But it does open the door for other chains to use the name, including Supermac, the firm that brought the challenge. Supermac, founded in 1978 in Galway, sells beef and chicken burgers and chicken nuggets at 120 red and white branded outlets across Ireland." www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp00jj7ze3qoI dunno, I actually feel a bit sorry for MacDonalds here: the Mac thing is deffo theirs by rights, when applied to burgers. I think matey McDonagh's taking the piss a bit. I'd understand if MacDonalds had forbidden him from branding his range of garden furniture or life insurance. See, he might have got away with Dunkin' McDonaghs or the even more generic McDonagh Kebabs.

We'll see how well PR works then. Presumably, as a perfect system, the volk people who vote for these right wing parties will be proportionally represented in the various European reichstags parliaments.

We'll see how well PR works then. Presumably, as a perfect system, the volk people who vote for these right wing parties will be proportionally represented in the various European reichstags parliaments. 1. No system of democracy is perfect. 2. That said, PR is more representative of the people than is FPTP. 3. AfD already has 77 seats out of 773 in the Bundestag and, if they do better this time, they'll pick up even more. 4. You're SO conflicted - you want the far right to do well, though this (to your deluded mind) then validates your continued rather puerile use of Nazi-era language. 5. Today of all days, your use of words like volk and reichstag further belies your honouring those who fought to rid Germany of the Nazi scourge ... 6. .. but then, in '44 your type would have conveniently had a note from mummy excusing you from 'games'. Numpty.
