Emmaus is quite a big deal around here. Mrs. B is a fan. They seem to do very good work.
I think I can cope with their founder having been a bit handsy, allegedly. He was French after all.

This case gets worse and worse. I had wondered what the husband would try and say to argue away the case of him drugging his wife and getting men to rape her. Apparently….it’s her fault. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13829147/amp/Monster-Avignon-says-life-ruined-rape-trial-admits-drugging-wife-perverted-strangers-abuse-unconscious-body-astonishingly-claims-happy-court-hears.html“A man on trial in France for drugging his wife and inviting dozens of men to rape her over a decade told a criminal psychologist that his wife was to blame for his actions because she wouldn't go swinging with him. Dominique Pelicot, 71, was excused from sitting through today's hearing after his lawyer told the trial judge that he had suffered 'medical problems' over the past 48 hours for which he had not received 'adequate treatment'. But psychologist Annabelle Montagne told the court in Avignon this morning that she interviewed the retired electrician in December 2020 - a month and a half after he was taken into custody - where he admitted to carrying out the campaign of abuse of his wife Gisele. 'Pelicot said: ''My wife and I had a discussion about swinging but she didn't agree so I drugged her'',' the psychologist recounted. Madame Montagne said Pelicot maintained he loved his wife, but she added: 'He sees his partner as an object to satisfy his sexual and narcissistic needs. His wife is then a partial object and no longer an object of total love.' It comes as another prison psychologist this morning told the court that Pelicot had a 'split personality', lacked empathy and inherited the temper of his father, who was said to be a violent abuser. She also revealed Pelicot maintains the sickening abuse of his wife would have continued if he had not been arrested - and complained that his life had been ruined by the criminal charges brought against him. The disturbing revelations into Pelicot's mind were revealed before his two sons, David and Florian, took to the stand to give evidence against their father.“ Poor man. His life is being ruined….[sarcasm]

I'd always assumed that there was something rather creepy about the swinging set. I don't know anyone like that, but I think there's probably something in that. If a couple you knew said that they were into that, you'd provably step away from them, wouldn't you?

Abbé Pierre sound like a well dodgy sex pest, no wonder Baloo is trying his best to excuse and downplay his sex pestery given he's yet another priest who used his position to sexually abuse women. Suppose the best you can say, at least it wasn't kids for a change.

The Emmaus thing creates some interesting questions.
Is being handsy and fondling some boobs enough to get yourself expunged from history as a vile sex pest? Probably not, if that's all it was.
Is it enough to stop your march to sainthood? Probably.
Is there any point or any value to having some bloke's name on a foundation? None at all, so removing it does no harm.
Should you believe one woman who says he got handsy? That should always be your first assumption, but you might be reticent to act on it when it's only one claim from long in the past.
Should you believe a large number of women who seem to all have similar stories? If you don't, you probably have some kind of agenda.

There's this other weird thing prevelent in GOP politics and evangelical circles in the US of blokes hiding in the bedroom cupboard watching the pool boy bang their wife's. It's very odd.

Meanwhile, possibly the oddest thing about the Pelicot case was how he got nicked. He got nicked for trying to upskirt film girls in the local mall. And then police went to his house and found a folder on his computer titled "abuse". You almost couldn't make it up.

That he thinks he's the real victim here is rather unsurprising. Wonder if he's an actual phycopath?
Not sure there are that many, even though the word is banded about so often, but on the surface he does appear to have many of the traits

As for Abbé I believe the women. It’s weird that people think countless numbers of women would all rock up to randomly lie, in a world where powerful men use their status to abuse women and children every single day.

France. Still, they sound a rum pair. “Pair”? Yeah. Woman who doesn't want to get involved in swinging and bloke who drugs her and gets people from all around the area to come and rape her. Two sides of the same coin, basically equal parts of the problem.

Not sure there are that many, even though the word is banded about so often, but on the surface he does appear to have many of the traits Would it be a psychopath or sociopath? from my limited knowledge, i'd go for psychopath. Found a quick chart differentiating the two. Sociopath Make it clear they do not care how others feels Behave in hot-headed and impulsive ways Prone to fits of anger and rage Recognize what they are doing but rationalize their behavior Cannot maintain a regular work and family life Can form emotional attachments, but it is difficult Psychopath Pretend to care Display cold-hearted behavior Fail to recognize other people's distress Have relationships that are shallow and fake Maintain a normal life as a cover for criminal activity Fail to form genuine emotional attachments May love people in their own way www.verywellmind.com/what-is-a-sociopath-380184But really, does it matter, he's a terrible human being and should spend the rest of his life behind bars.
