I'm not sure that the ones who say something critical of Chairman Xi and disappear are too happy with the situation. But I think you could be right that we really don't need to worry about Asia in the west. At the worst it'll be competition for raw materials - nobody has an ideology that requires global domination at the moment. And NATO, like the EU, is great and has been great for the last three quarters of a century, letting rich countries get richer without spaffing it all up the wall on wars. isn't that what people said about japan in the 1930's? they were written off as a threat, too. |

I see that the Beeb are leading on "Girls aren't going to secondary school in Afghanistan". I wonder if they mentioned how few girls were going to secondary school outside of Kabul last year? I wonder if they've ever led on the secondary school access for girls in Saudi Arabia or Qatar?

They're showing the same thing on French telly, failing to mention that the girls depicted are clearly Kabuli bourgeoisie which represents about 0.0000001% of the female population.
