All very odd. It feels a bit like a fudge.
1) It was a civil suit, so it obviously was never going to reach the threshold of proof for a criminal conviction. 2) The jury were able to satisfy themselves that a thirty year old fumble had happened, but not a thirty year old rape. 3) The judge felt it necessary to warn jurors to stay in the shadows forever.
Dunno, Trump's a bloody horrible bloke (so very much representative of the US) but I don't think he stood a chance here and the jury knew it. It feels a bit like they knew what was expected of them.

Given how fanatic Trump supporters can be, I'm not surprised the jurors were advised to keep quiet.

I think the jury members would be hounded by all sides, for the reasons set out above. It's very odd and unsatisfactory, so they would probably get a very hard time being asked how they came to their decision. I don't envy them.
I can easily believe that Donald Trump is a horrible handsy creep around women. What I don't understand is how you can decide that he was being a grotty little groper 30 years ago, buy not a rapist thirty years ago.
Dunno. All very odd.

Dunno, Trump's a bloody horrible bloke (so very much representative of the US) but I don't think he stood a chance here and the jury knew it. It feels a bit like they knew what was expected of them. 1 - Well, there’s no chance of a criminal conviction here. It was not a case that could be bought. The most a civil trial can do is find him liable. But the jury decided these unanimously. 2 - It’s always much harder to prove rape, of course. But the jury returned so quickly you have to think they just said “What is everyone absolutely certain of” and they got unanimity without any deliberation on all the other counts so decided to stop there. I imagine that if it was a criminal trial held 30 years late they’d have acquitted on rape. It feels like all the jurors probably thought he is a rapist but the burden of proof is too high to achieve. 3 - Given how psycho Trump supports are, as is noted, you’d be mad to find him guilty of anything and then publicly out yourself. Also, given how frothingly desperate the media are for sordid details of this, you’d think any sane juror would be desperate to avoid being permanently doorstepped by hordes of reporters. And yes, he almost certainly didn’t stand a chance here. Because he did it. And his track record makes it look like he almost certainly is the kind of person who would have done it. Nobody’s going to character witness him as not a filthy lech who wandered into teen Miss Universe dressing rooms, was friends with Epstein, kept swapping his wife for a younger model (and always a model), who’s bragged about being a sex pest and been caught on tape. Discovering that he is a sex pest is no shock to anyone who’s been aware of things. And we all know that he’s a congenital serial repeat liar, too, so him claiming to have not done it will carry little weight.

Anyway, the weird thing is that I think this has almost no impact beyond being a judgement that might ease Ms Carroll’s pain. She is now vindicated.
But, as I noted above, we all knew all this stuff about Trump already. I can’t see how it shifts any needles politically. He’ll still win the Republican nomination easily unless something else comes up. And he’ll still run Biden close-ish in any general election and could well win if the economy slips.

As the idiot has just demonstrated, Trump being convicted as a sex pest matters not one bit to his followers, same as if he's convicted of all the criminality he did around trying to steal the last election or his stealing classified documents and keeping them unsecured in a shed at his country club, he, and they have cultivated victimhood to such a level non of it will matter to them, so noted, they are fanatics.
About the only thing that will stop him being the GOP candidate might be the classified document thing as being convicted of mishandling such stuff comes with a barr on holding public office.

In related news, lying George Santos has been arrested and charged with a string of offenses including fraud. He's the republican who made up about 90% of his bio, and lied almost as often and gratuitously as Trump. www.ctvnews.ca/world/u-s-rep-george-santos-arrested-on-federal-criminal-charges-1.6392267Obviously he's not going to resign in shame, apparently he's busy prepping to be the first man on Mars, after the next Olympics where he's running in the 100m...

The video of him being questioned on this is just…wow. He basically gave them enough to believe yeah he probably did it. He had an opportunity clarify his “grab ‘em by the pussy” comments and he seemed to double down further.
And Yanks voted this man in as president and almost did it a second time.
And none of this disqualifies him to be president. Jesus.

why? if a guy looks at a girls breasts, is that pervy? (well, to the left it probably is) what i find pervy is school teachers telling school children to experiment with same sex sex, and intructing 2-9 year olds on the "joys" of sex change.
