In a rare moment, there might be some truth in one of Rick’s links. I don’t think SF is a dying city - and office occupancy is partly low because lots of people in the Bay Area moved away when remote working came in because rents are insanely high, and because everyone in the town works in tech and is inclined to remote working.
But experience says that there are more homeless there than anywhere, and there are ridiculous numbers of homeless in all the California coastal cities (this is largely, it should be noted, because they are by far the most reasonable climates to be homeless in that you could imagine - you wouldn’t want to be homeless year round in the Atlanta suburbs or Fargo or Phoenix). And in SF there does appear to be a lot more associated drug use. The city was always packed to the gunnels with the smugness, but anecdotally it’s not as nice on the streets as it used to be.
What is really notable, though - I just did a search on hotel rooms in SF for the night tonight or tomorrow and the prices are 20-30% of what they were last time I tried to stop in the city pre-Covid.

usa epitaph
born july4, 1776 died june 8,2023
today marks the day we officialy became a banana republic. where we died as a free democracy. we are no different than the ussr where presidential opponents are thrown into prison by a sitting president during a presidential campaign. where a sitting president can sic the IRS, FBI, and CIA on anyone they wish. where those three agencies are used as political weapons. RIP usa.

Sorry, was Trump thrown into prison?
Also, do you prefer the alternative, where ex-Presidents are completely untouchable. That they can commit whatever crimes they wish, perpetrate whatever corruption, and still know that there is literally nothing the system can do to prosecute them once they've left office?
Also, of course, in the USSR there weren't opponent presidential candidates. Also, of course, Stalin's perceived opponents ended up a lot worse off than just in prison, but that's all asides.
Your post is, er, full of hysteria.

Wow the GOP really have abandoned even a fig leaf of believing in the rule of law. They just want the crimes of the Orange looser to be ignored.
Can you imagine their reaction if anyone not in their cult was found to be mishandling military secrets, the screaming would be deafening

Though obviously it's uplifting the US justice system is holding even the rich, well connected and poweful to account when they break the law. It's very affirming they've put a stamp on 'no one is above the law'.

just a coincidence it happened during a presidential campaign against bidens strongest opponent, right andy? and yes, they will throw trump into prison come hell or high water. either that or assassinated. it's not hysteria. i truly believe that. we have a president and party that is using the countries most powerful agencies to go after political opponents.

Far from just happening, it's been ongoing since he fled Washington with stolen classified documents then refused to hand them back, lied about then, obstructed investigations and used them in his business dealings and to impress his trades.

you refuse to see whats happening because of your blind hatred of trump, andy. if a president can charge a political opponent during a presidential campaign with a federal crime they can charge anyone they don't like with a crime. you, me, anyone. but you willingly refuse to see that. we don't have a president. we have a monarch. biden would do stalin proud.

A president is not charging anyone. This is the judicial system charging Trump. You understand that Biden doesn’t control the judiciary?
Also, are you saying that every criminal should just permanently be running for president like Trump has been for the last 2.5 years and therefore be immune from all prosecution?

The funniest thing about this is that you think Trump is going to prison. This makes no difference to Trump. He’s still going to win the primary even if convicted.
