I don't like them. Too sticky and sickly sweet.

Do you get sweaty when filling up your car? Feeling sick over the price of Petrol?
You could have Car Owner Virus!

Where's WKC? I wonder if they've got him in for that operation that got postponed and he's having a large organ removed from his body (and not for the first time, I'll be bound).
Good luck, mucker.

I have a feeling he'll be back with us on Sunday.

They'll be rolling away the stone on Saturday night.
Thanks for asking.
Actually the new date for my OP is Monday 16th. May. So not too long to wait.
I'm around - just not had a lot to say.

This weekend I'll be setting off on a little over a week of bikepacking in New Mexico. The cycling is going to hurt, but I'm used to that. The camping is what going to kill me. At least we are working on the very sound theory that you should only ever sleep in a tent if there's no hotel within many miles, so about half and half hotel and tent.

I'm sat in a cabin near Pemberton about to canoe Anderson Lake tomorrow for a 3 night trip.
Bit chilly, but only one day forecast possible snow.

Off to Cornwall for work-camp. I've been told that concrete has been ordered.

That sounds like you're going to be burying people
I'm off to fix my Mum's shower. Not the most interesting bank holiday, but maybe she'll treat me to dinner at the local curry house.

Haha. No, I imagine it'll be remedial work to the decking in the garden. Wood and soil are not a great combination, unless you have particularly dry conditions. It's another example of a feature that works well in other countries but doesn't travel well to UK. Other examples include, flat roofs, Art Deco architecture, outdoor swimming pools and fascism.

Interestingly, Art Deco buildings, outdoor swimming pools and fascism are all in the same part of the Venn diagram, if you consider the various lidos built around London in the 1930s. Very much inspired by the bare-chested, mens sana in corpore sano, running around in the sunshine so famously promoted by the much-maligned Benny Mussolini.

That is an interesting mix of examples.
The rotten decking is a bugger, for sure. Like many things, it looks great at first, then muggins has to fix it...

Yeah, and they can be slippery as hell.

The trick in building anything in UK is to get water off and away from a structure as soon as possible. It's standing water that does the damage, soaking in and causing rot and/or chemical corruption (don't get me started on hygroscopic salts).

Nobody wants you to get started on hygroscopic salts...

Spreading gravel, which has to be done every 5 years or so. Mowing the orchard. Clearing the vegetable garden. Still cutting back brambles but that'll have to stop until September as the birds are nesting. Putting fly screens back on the exterior doors. And will probably have to discuss our neighbour's tearful break-up with her boyfriend over a glass of something, find out why she told him to clear off - was he seeing someone else on the side? Is she seeing someone else on the side? Or is there some other reason that we can later discuss at length with others over a glass of something? Which is interesting because I've all but given up.

Summarisation. It's surprisingly hard work spreading that gravelly stuff. Mt main problem with it is, that while it looks nice, it's a bit dusty and you walk chalky footprints everywhere when it's wet.

I'm going to start decluttering, which sounds gay in comparison to all your manly toil, but it isn't.
