Interesting that the word "heritage" has now been replaced by "origin".

Ironic that an animal lover should have died at the hands of a Somali Islamic mad dog. showing his gratitude to the uk for allowing him in.

Interesting that the word "heritage" has now been replaced by "origin". I think origin will mean Somali born but UK citizen. Heritage will mean Somali ancestors but British born. As for Amess - absolutely shocking, and - just like Jo Cox, and that Lib Dem assistant who was killed protecting the MP - terrible for democracy because it’s more likely to create barriers to interaction between MPs and constituents. One interesting thing is the number of people on the leftish of British politics, MPs, activists, writers in the Guardian, who’ve suddenly found lots of nice things to say about David Amess. I find it fascinating that people who you claim voted for evilness consistently sudddenly have a bunch of legislative achievements on public safety or animal welfare, and were thoroughly decent people who happen to have been in the wrong party. This happens every time an MP dies. I know “speak no ill of the dead” and all that, but perhaps all these propagandists could have speak English less ill of the living. Why not point out his decency and the actual good things he’s done in politics while he’s still alive (and the same goes for all the other MPs)

Yeah, that's what I was driving at. I suspect that he was probably born here though.

Bet he wanted to be buried in Southend, wonder if they'll finally make it a city in his honour given he's been banging on about it for decades.

The suspect is Ali Harbi Ali. We must now light candles and think no more about the reasons behind this terrible tragedy.

The Somalian father of the suspected terrorist alleged to have killed Conservative MP Sir David Amess in Friday's horrific knife attack in Essex while meeting his constituents said he had been left 'traumatised' by the shock of his son being arrested for the crime. Harbi Ali Kullane, a former communications advisor to the Prime Minister of Somalia, spoke to The Sunday Times to confirm that his British-born son Ali Harbi Ali, 25, was in police custody following the stabbing at Sir David's constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea.

It's interesting, this call for more respect in politics. I was listening to the Friday evening "comedy" on Radio 4 with Andy Salzman. It was very predictable sub-Ben Elton stuff where any Tory politician is referred to by their surname in that way that teenage boys use surnames when expressing their contempt for another kid that they don't get on with.
It's a bit cringy really.

It's all too facile, politiv humour. The best line in the entire programme was about the Newcastle take-ovee not being black and white. It was delivered by a female Irish comedian of Asian lady heritage and she was clearly fed the line.

Respect is earned, no? It's at low ebb in politics right now.

And they seem increasingly afraid of good hard satire.

It's very childish TBH. It's a shame because one or two of them are capable of being very funny. It's just snearing, knocking student union gittishness really.
I think the problem is that they have a team of writers and they just work to a formula. I get the impression that the guests are just there to deliver the material.

The line to take is quickly coalescing here. It's all about social media and threats and offensive language. Oddly, Rayner's name hasn't come up once. It's all about the appalling behaviour of the unwashed and there seems to be at least as much time spent discussing St Jo than Sir Dave, by Labour politicians at least. Little talk of the actual murderer.

I blame the kinds of people who make the same boring repeated childish student eunion gittishness jokes oveur and oveur and oveur and oveur again on the internet. Like, for example, just putting EU in words oveur and oveur and oveur and oveur and oveur again, It encourages comedians to think that this is what people think is funny.

Yeah, it's a bit like those jokers who keep making the same old gag about trans women actually being women.
