It’s the IOC’s own fault. Finding a way to not kick them out when it was already agreed by all the authorities that they deserved to be kicked out, and were in theory kicked out. You know they’re going to pretend that it’s a one off individual acting on her own…
Also, I can’t be the only one bothered by the ROC acronym. I keep thinking that it’s “Republic of China” even though the PRC are clearly not going to allow that to happen.

On my drive in this morning the DJ was quite funny, he said 'something's gone wrong with the Canadians women's hockey team, its been over 6 minuets since they scored" (9-nil at that point)

The Russians shouldn’t be competing at all. The fact that they are doping a 15 year old and then not reporting their test results reinforces that. I feel sorry for the girl who clearly has little agency in what happens to her. But none for the Russian authorities who should get kicked out.

agreed, she's just doing her thing, the ones drugging her are the problem. We've known their entire system is corrupt for years yet the IOC have still fudged it so the Ruskies can be there.

Don't watch it. Not interested in it. Don't like China. Don't like fake snow. It's all sh*t. Bah. China (well, Beijing, is awesome). But yeah I cannot get into the winter games. They’re all rather dull.

i imagine mogul skiing training over the years would destroy the knees later on in life. probably lots of knee surgeries. BIG womens hockey match tonight. #1 vs #2 When I see joggers, 30 yrs to maybe 50, all I see are knee replacement surgeries in their future, especially when they jog on pavement. And then the ones who jog in a city - breathing in all that pollution deep into their lungs, cancer might be next for them, too. Depends how much you do it. It’s definitely better than being sedentary. And many people have no option but to jog on pavements.

if the goal is health than I believe the best choice is to walk a mile of two every day, or maybe every other day, swimming? but I do agree jogging is better choice then nothing at all

It’s odd. It would probably be unfair on her to ban her, but it would be reasonable to ban the entire ROC team. Particularly as one of the reasons she’s allowed to compete is because of the irregular reporting of the test result, which is another responsibility of the Russian authorities. Basically, she was drugged by her coaches, and then her governing authority cheated the notification system, and as a result she’s got off free. I feel 95% sure she is not the responsible party here, but if you’re going to try and ban a country for drug cheating making exceptions to allow them to compete and making extra exceptions to allow their known doped athletes to compete is a double farce which basically says “there are no penalties if you’re a Russian who’s doping”.

Speaking after the daily media briefing in Beijing, International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Denis Oswald confirmed the 15-year-old Russian’s explanation for her positive test for the banned angina drug trimetazidine was “contamination which happened with a product her grandfather was taking”.[

I remember when a single British medal at a winter games was considered a complete miracle and the winners were lauded for decades. We’ve become a bit blasé about our success at slipping recently, when we shouldn’t be considering how unslippy most of Britain is most of the time. If there were competitions specifically designed for sports to be played on damp, mossy surfaces we’d be incredible naturals at them.
So well done to our curlers. I only watched about the stone-slides all tournament, and the most interesting thing was how astonishingly pale the British curlers are, like they’d literally never seen the outside world let alone sunlight.

As for Ujah, I am shocked to discover that Olympic medal winning sprinters are trying to cheat. Shocked.
