“Dr Brearey says he demanded Letby be taken off duty in June 2016, after the final two murders. Hospital management initially refused.” Assuming he is telling the truth why did he stop there? If I thought a colleague was murdering patients I am calling the police.

Yeah, it looks a bit like a dick-swinging contest. Obviously, doctors don't want to look bad, but neither dies the hospital. The hospital employs the doctors, so they win.

Interesting that this story has slipped to No.10 within 17 hours. Does that speak to the mundanity of evil?
We've had this conversation before, but she clearly cannot have been mentally well to have done this. There's an obvious difference between murders committed out of rivalry, personal grudge etc., and killing defenceless babies.
Odd, innit? It makes me uncomfortable that we talk in the media about unspeakable evil, when it's probably just a tragic mental problem. I wonder if this is, on part, due to the way our trials work: the jury decides guilty and the judge decides culpability (I think).
We don't know much about the nurse yet, but the mood music so far is that she was an ordinary respectable lass. Tike will tell and I expect the redtop have been busy amassing a rake of salacious background info.

I suppose it depends on the nature of the mental illness or even what we class as mental illness. I don't think there's any doubt she was in full possession of her mental faculties but there's clearly something missing in her psyche. Is that mental illness? Mental illness in criminals is often used in mitigation (particularly as we know in the case of the otherly hued). Some people have "personality disorders" but maybe they're just cunts. I'm sure opportunity played a part here too. I'm sure there are more people out there like her out there but they don't have access to helpless babies that are known to be at risk from dying anyway. I blame the NHS.

Angel of Death.
Probably traumatised by low pay and a 36 hour week. And Brexit.

Tike will tell and I expect the redtop have been busy amassing a rake of salacious background info. It’s because of who she was. She has a demographic profile that elicit’s sympathy. If it was a male nurse, an ugly fat woman or anybody non white (especially the latter) the media focus would be very different. Even you’re doing it.
