Anyway away from the rights unhinged obsession with this Algerian woman for moment. The men's 10,000 m yesterday was a great race, made brilliant by the Canadian commentator, who thought Joshua Cheptegei had been lapped (he'd been way behind at 5,000 m mark) and hadn't seen he'd actually caught, up giving him a right slagging off saying he should be getting out of the way and not embarrassing himself after being lapped by running with the leading pack, they only realized he was on same lap in the sprint for the line.
Brilliant live TV, the spluttering apology topped it off for me.

I'm happy to be seen as obsessive in pursuit of honesty, fairness, rationality and science.

Sure you are. Women aren't women if they're too good at sport against weaker opponents, suddenly, despite you saying for years it's about birth genitalia, have decided something else entirely makes this woman a man.
The unhinged nature of your objection to this woman is odd, very odd.

I've never said any such thing. If you can't be honest or rational, do at least try to be accurate.

In other nutjobs news, apparently Simon Biles has upset the nutters by wearing a Goat pendent and holding it up when she won gold. Now normal rational people see this as GOAT meaning Greatest Of All Time, the unhinged see it as her wearing Baphomet and her fingers representing 666. Apparently she was better, not cos she is genetically shorter, lighter and natutal advantages, but cos of Satan.
They really are weird

Her vaults were brilliant. I've seen nothing but praise for her performance. Mind you there have been comments asking why one of the male gymnasts didn't beat her to a pulp for the entertainment of Biden and Harris.

The right really are weird they've totally lost their sh*t over a woman beating another women, yet don't bat an eyelid when men beat women, Infact spend their time defending men who beat women saying the woman deserved it in some way.
Very weird lot, the right.

I thought people had a problem with her pendant because women are meant to be humble but that reason is even more batshit.

Heading out of Paris. Setting aside the weirdoes’ culture war weirdness for a moment, I’d like to say that the French did an amazing job. What a great experience. Getting in and out of venues was relatively easy (for big sporting events). The Metro and RER were fast and efficient with great signage (although sometimes they recommended stops in distant locations in order to try and disperse crowds). The volunteers were all incredibly friendly. Even the National Police and Gendarmerie were not arsehats, if only for a couple of weeks. Events were entertaining around the event, venues mostly good (Parc des Princes is never a great place to watch sport and not just because it’s PSG).
It’s been a great Olympics to be at.
That said, the Parisians did live up to their reputation in one regard. Even after an overnight flight from the US I was not in the bottom quartile and of BO. There remain lots of very fragrant gentlemen in the city.
For 2028 in LA I’ll target anything on the southern side of the city; one day of Athletics; Velodrome and Weightlifting because I’ve been to neither in Paris or London; and Cricket if it’s in California and not Texas or New York (but it’s likely to be in one of those places for reason of pre-existing stadia which the IOC now prefer, but should be in one of Southern California’s baseball stadia).

It's been a good Olympics as far as I can tell. Well done to the Frogs, I'd say.

I hope the IOC, rather than France, catches the backlash for the whole female-assault-by-male-facilitation wickedness.

I read most of the Parisiens had left - so that should have been the tourists surely?

Also well done to St Lucia - well done for keeping the USians out of gold in the women’s 100m sprint (given the Jamaicans did not seem able to do so) and also for getting her country’s first gold medal ever!

Bloody hell. Literal horse dancing. I know dressage is a thing but I didn't know there was a musical version.

Dressage might be on the way to the knackeres yard following images of Olympian Charlotte Dujardin whipping the fcuk out of her horse. Horse cruelty sports have been in the Olympics from the beginning I think, one of the small number of posh people's sports left.
