They will all be reaping the benefits at our expense!
you mean raping the benefits at your expense !
however, you can't push the blame on the immigrants (and i must say it is rather crazy listening to some of your punishment recommendations!) just change your laws to benefit the victim and not the criminal if you break the law, then let the law break you

I agree, but the issue here is an immigrant taking advantage of our cushy prison service and legal system offending purely to reap the benefits!

Funny though how the job thing is linked to the rape as if it's the fault of the jobs market. The guy's just an animal. If he really wanted to get locked up to stay in the country, why choose rape? Why not hold up a bank or summat? He's just a depraved cnut, like most men.

perhaps 'immigrant' is a mitigating circumstance; 'at home' crime is still probably of a higher percentage...it is sad that an immigrant thinks life is better in jail at the expense of an innocent young woman...it's all a question of values, like expressed in other threads, taking responsibility - but not fighting what some of you call 'nanny state mentality' it is obvious that people shouldn't drink and drive - why do so many people do it ? punishment is a difficult thing to proscribe ! maybe romania should be compelled to pay for hotel du clink

Now that's a good idea!

That is surely something the EU could arrange, so that EU states pay each other for the cost of keeping their nationals in another EU country's prison?
