Smoking Ban Effect Wearing Off?!

you could not move in my local before the ban , now you can have the place to your-self .
4 staff have lost their job's as well , not much fun for them .

I've noticed the same avon in my local pubs, i get to choose where i sit instead of bundling in, not being able to get to the bar through the haze of smoke and the gaggle of bodies! lol!
Don't you think the "pub atmosphere" isn't so much fun though?!

for a smoker to be honest i havent noticed much change but then again i havent had a local in a good wee while. I agreed with the ban in restaurants but i still feel that a ban should be down to the bar owner themselves rather than having it enforced. where is the freedom in that?

I agree with you radge up to a point - in restaurants there is nothing worse than inhaling the smoker's fumes sitting behind you! I hate dirty ashtrays lying around too! With pubs i guess there could be smoking lounges separate to the main bar! Not going to happen though is it. I am surprised at how comparatively few people go outside to smoke, there are ever only about 4 or 5 generally! Not much enjoyment there!

I hate the smell in pubs now. When there were smokers you knew what to expect (not smoked for 4 years btw), but now? They reek of bad BO, farts, stale booze, cheap perfume - gross!! The air quality is actually poorer too as the air cleaners are not used anymore - can't afford them for a start.

Find the same thing on planes too, the air con was always on when smokers huddled up the back, but now they smell foul too, especially if fish is on the menu!

Yeah you're right sushimo! I've noticed you can smell the upholstery in fusty pubs and the stinky curtains, let alone the BO and the rest!
