Oh, your turn now is it?
Why not, for once in your life, be a bit of a man and actually try to have a real agrument, instead of a stream of ad hominems, strawmen and outright fantasizing?
What? Be a bit of a man? This is what you consider to be manly? Oh dear.

I see, no comment on #119. As I said, be a man and have a proper argument, instead of prancing about like a fairy trying to avoid it.

And as I said, if you think that's what constitutes being a man then you are the prancing fairy.
Your thing is to take a story by the Mail or whatever and ferret about to prove that it's not true and that the world is all peachy apart from rightwing facists trying to make it look bad. Dweeb policy is achieving the socialist utopia as per the timetable laid down by stoned hippies in the sixties.
Now that's a bit of an exaggeration. But not by enough. Tearing newspaper stories to bits is all very well but the real world is out here as well. And calling everything a strawman is just another way to dismiss obvious problems that might make a dweeb policy look bad. And trying to goad me into defending a newspaper that I don't read is real distraction bollocks. You're trying to get any debate hung up on the minutae rather than the issue. So the Daily Mail exaggerates, misquotes and misleads. So what? Schools still can't teach properly because of stupid policies.
This sudden declaration that you are only seeking after truth by destroying lies is bullshit. You've been a right dweeb. What's the matter now? Are you starting to understand that you've been supporting idiot policies and are trying to backpeddle? Will you now be challenging me to produce an example of dweebishness by you to back up my position?
I await the macho manliness of your alpha male response. Type butch, honey.

The first part is true. The second part is untrue. When I'm checking a newspaper article, I don't seek to draw conclusions about the wider world, only the article in question.
Could you provide an example of what you claim I do, so I can learn from my mistakes?
Dweeb policy is achieving the socialist utopia as per the timetable laid down by stoned hippies in the sixties.[/i]
See? Random, weird, totally made up, unconnected to anything nonsense. Like he's having another conversation and some of it got cross-posted. WHat's that got to do with what you were talking about a moment ago?
But not by enough. Tearing newspaper stories to bits is all very well but the real world is out here as well. And calling everything a strawman is just another way to dismiss obvious problems that might make a dweeb policy look bad.[/i]
I don't call everything a strawan, but I'll say that it. The only things I call strawmen are bullshit invented arguments made up by someone which don't actually relate to the anything said by the other party in the argument. So, pretty much most things you post, true, because you have an unusual imaginative facility which allows you to invent all manner of things that just aren't there.
And trying to goad me into defending a newspaper that I don't read is real distraction bollocks.
I haven't been trying to goad you. You've been going on about it of your own free will since post #70: "You want to teach people that every word in a newspaper you don't like is a lie."
I had mentioned the Mail in the context of people being able to assess what they read critically, but you're the one that's been banging on and on about it - not just on this thread, it is one of your standard refrains.
So when you say:
You're trying to get any debate hung up on the minutae rather than the issue. So the Daily Mail exaggerates, misquotes and misleads. So what? Schools still can't teach properly because of stupid policies.[/i]
You're talking shite. You're the one that waded in with the weird fixation on me, and the repetitive 'dweeb dweeb dweeb' drone.
And I said, some 60 posts ago, that schools weren't doing a very good job.

That's it? That's your manly response? Needlework/social studies/media studies teachers must have a strange definition of manliness. Probably involving rimming.
Why aren't schools doing a good job, He Man? What's the problem? Too much facism? Not enough needlwork classes? Insufficient diversity training?
My contention is that dweeb policy and political dumbing down to present an image that dweeb policy isn't killing education in the UK is responsible. Your contention is that the Daily Mail is lying. On every page. In special lie-telling ink. Not in a manly way.
Is it the ridiclue that's bothering you? You don't like being twitted? You feel that it is an affront to your standards and ethics as a serious poster and embroidery teacher? You feel that real men shouldn't be insulted on the internet?

I've just seen the trailer for X-Men iV.
Storm: Magneto and a team of facists are destroying New York. Wolverine: I'll get over there and sort it out. LaLa: And I'll use my special manly mutant media studies power to prove that the Daily Mail just made it all up.

Manliness involves actually addressing the argument, not ducking questions and trying to cover up your essential cluelessness with bluster and insults. Girls do name calling, remember?
Why aren't schools doing a good job, He Man? What's the problem? Too much facism? Not enough needlwork classes? Insufficient diversity training?[/i]
Go back to #60 or there about. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt here and assuming that you read my replies and just forgot - I'll add poor short term memory to the list of your mental oddities. I wouldn't, for a moment, want to suggest that you just saw my name in the thread and launched into a standard anti-la la rant. because that would make you really quite weird and obsessed.
My contention is that dweeb policy and political dumbing down to present an image that dweeb policy isn't killing education in the UK is responsible. Your contention is that the Daily Mail is lying. On every page. In special lie-telling ink.[/i]
Oh, look, he's trying to make it funny so he can laugh it off and pretend it was all a bit of a joke. Cretin.
Is it the ridiclue that's bothering you? You don't like being twitted?[/i]
Boring, not bothering. Though I understand your pulling techique is based around substantial amounts of bothering and boring, until the object of your affection agrees to give you som pity sex just to make you go away.
You feel that it is an affront to your standards and ethics as a serious poster and embroidery teacher? You feel that real men shouldn't be insulted on the internet?[/i]
Not at all. But it is rather dull when you can only fall back on the same tired refrain. Reflects rather poorly on your mental capabilities. And especially when you use it as a tool to derail debate, as witnessed on this thread.

Just a question: Rick, Lala: Is this really the best way you can find to spend a Sunday?
Err. Well I'm off for a late bruch, then unpacking the arrows for some practice.

A Statue imposed by King Henry VIII and written by the King in the 6th year of his reign (1515) was an amended, more specifically detailed version to replace an earlier Royal Statute of 1363:
Item: Whether the Kinges subjectes, not lame nor having no lawfull impediment, and beinge within the age of XI yeares, excepte Spiritual men, Justices etc. and Barons of the Exchequer, use shoting on longe bowes, and have bowe continually in his house, to use himself and that fathers and governours of chyldren teache them to shote, and that bowes and arrowes be bought for chyldren under XVII and above VII yere, by him that has such a chylde in his house, and the Maister maye stoppe it againe of his wages, and after that age he to provideb them himselfe: and who that is founde in defaute, in not having bowes and arrowes by the space of a moneth, to forfayte xiid.. And boyers for everie bowe of ewe, to make two of Elme wiche or othere wood of meane price, and if thei be founde to doe the contrarie, to be committed to warde, by the space of viii daies or more.
And that buttes be made, in everie citie, towne and place accordinge to the law of auncient time used, and the inhabitantes and dwellers in everye of them to exercise themselfe with longe bowes in shotinge at the same, and elles wher on holy daies and other times conveniente.
And that al bowstaves of ewe, be open and not solde in bundels nor close.
And that no stranger not being denizen, shall convey oute of the kinges obeilance (?) anie bowes, arrowes, or shaftes without the kinges speciall license upon paine of forfaiture, and also imprysonment nor use shotynge in anie longe bowe without the kinges license, uppon paine to forfaite the bowes and arrowes to the kinges subjectes that will Seaze them.
The Statute thereof is ANNO 6. H8. Cap:2. This Act has ever been repealed - so fathers ( or 'governors') with male children over the age of 7 - you face a fine if you have not provided them with a bow, two arrows and taught them how to shoot!

There was extensive debate early on, between Omni and Watchman, as to wether it was a joke or just stupid. The squealing made for entertaining reading.

I'm typing this in between waiting for my pipe soldering to cool. I'm not really on the internet, I'm doing plumbing. In a manly way. LaLa is typing huge chinks of sh*t in the mistaken belief that he is not an idiot dweeb. Peachy.

Oh, Her Manliness can have it. There's probably some legislation that insists that LaLa's kind be given positive discrimination in these matters.

Narrow prejidices. What does that mean? Is that pretentious unintelligentsia for racism? What do you mean by wider state of the country? Is that unassociated liberal for for "fcuk the proles, it's the glorious lefty ideals that matter" and you can think that way because you don't live there?
you really are fcuking sad aren't you Rick, sorry to have shot your straw dog by actually coming from a place very similar to SS but not turning out a racist fcukwhit, what next little man?
The Voice is getting a bit pompous now. Are you trying to live up to the Hugo Weaving character behind the mask? Forget it, you don't have the class and you come off more like some dweeb coffee morning wife with too much time on her hands. Maybe you should adopt a Polly Toynbee image for your avatar
Perhaps you've got used to thinking all Northerners are as thick as she is, but many of us have very good education if this is an example of your manliness I guess you don't get layed very often
