I've heard every variation of wop joke. Most of them in the standard terrible accent. An old foreman used to regularly call me a spaghetti-yaffling cnut. He was an old Scot, one of the few men I sincerely admired and even though I'd broken a couple of ribs on the morning of his funeral I went and grieved along with almost everyone who ever knew him.
I've also been in more than a few fights with people who weren't being so affectionately funny. At no point ever in my life have I considered trying to take advantage of anything. I like being a wop. Most of the time I'm OK about being British.

I think the whole issue here centers round the fact that it was management doing the verbally abusing, bullying, call it whatever. Management should be above this sort of thing. They are supposed to be able to manage etc. I agree too with the comment that Management are there to be approached if staff members are being bullied etc. How can they be approached if they are the instigators, very unprofessional and unacceptable behaviour from them.

His nickname was Seamus. Should have been Hamish but the guy who christened him decades ago apparently wasn't up on obscure foreign names.

not bullying not verbally abusing! manuel was a well lived character, if they were calling him Franco or summat then there might be something to get squiffy about. But manuel was well loved and its a sign of affection.

Thing is though, people are amused by different things and some people are more sensitive little flowers than others. If he asked them to stop and they carried on then they're twäts. Just because I don't mind a bit of jocular national stereotyping doesn't mean I can do it to people who do mind.

this guy aint a sensitive flower. he's just a money grabbing tw@t. Not to mention sensetive flowers arent made for this world so they should all do a favour to everyone and kill themselves before they ruin other peoples lives for not being able to handle some banter. I cant know for sure, but i would put money on this that his nicknames were said to him in a banter way not a nasty way. words mean nothing without sentiment behind them. what was the sentiment behind this? Banter, i guarantee

I think the amount they claim for is suggested by lawyers, it'll represent loss of earnings after he (felt he) had to resign plus the hurty feelings payout that I am coming to really seriously hate.
