A thread for songs and music worth sharing. Note - worth sharing. We don't need the Top 40, Bohemian Rhapsody, or Smells Like Teen Spirit, thank you.
Please, resist the urge to be predictable.

The lovely Essie Jain, of whom I only learned the other day, buying her album on the cheap following the demise of a local record store.

'King hell, The Cocteaus. An done of my favouritest songs of theirs. That's from the Heaven or Las Vegas album, innit? Spent many an evening listening to it in a 'differently aware' state. Fantastic. There's hope for you yet, Mids.
[edit] ... Though the little red sperm flitting about at the beginning of the vid are slightly unsettling.

Damn, does this mean I have to not like them anymore? It is from Heaven or Las Vegas.

A boot leg recording of the Meltdown Festival. The BEEB have the best recording but it's not available on release, heard it on radio 4 prog about the opera Dido and Æneas last week and was just struck by the haunting lament. Buckley nailed it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fimxh2WSTbE

I just listened to that Essie Jain vid . All I will say is that I'm not surprised the record store went bust

That's truly beautiful, oldhippy. Yes, I was stunned by it when I heard it on Radio 4 last week (much better recording). The conductor said Buckley hadn't turned up for any rehearsal and with just a slip of paper with the lyrics on it. The conductor had trained all his life and afterwards admitted he knew nothing about music and now works with as many untrained musicians as possible changing his own focus from training to feeling. Here's Buckley doing his signature Cohen's Hallelujah www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOoEYxt0PPA&NR=1
