Hawkwind are brilliant. Gong are better though. That is all.

I've seen Gong live three times. Hawkwind only once. Hawkwind had a giant woman with massive norks dancing naked on stage and the worst support act ever. Gong had tie-dyed everything and Daeve Allen prancing around with a pointy hat on singing about the pot head pixies in their flying teapot.
Gong win.

I've seen Hawkwind once also with that woman. I don't think it was the infamous Stacia though -I think she'd moved on by the early 80s.

A triptych of the wondrous Kim Deal, to celebrate the fact that I've finally got a copy of Last Splash gracing my record collection, after many years of feeling like a bit of an aural amputee ...

Bit obvious, but better than I wanna Be Elected:
The rest of you run out of music already?

Duke Ellington, featuring Louie Bellson on drums.
And here's Bellson playing the drum solo. In a f**k**g suit. That's beyond cool.

While we're on the subject of drummers, sad to report that Luigi Waites died the other age, aged 82. He was still performing regularly up until last year at least. Can't find a clip worth posting, but here's a link to his myspace playlist, which has some very mellow jazzy stuff on it, with VIBRAPHONE. Way cool. www.myspace.com/luigiwaites/playlists

For no apparent reason this popped into my head just now.
It does remind me of life at times, but then I do live in Norfolk.

Greetings from Singapore, You Tube is heavily censored up here and seeing most of my fav's are good old drinking songs, here's just one I found.
This is West Virginia, USA and Tasmania's State anthem or should be.

And who can resist the musical stylings of Jim Bob and Fruitbat?
I know someone who used to know someone who was the partner of one of their roadies. Tragically, this may still be my greatest claim to fame.
