To Sushimo and Drusilla - all my sympathy. I watched a dearly loved aunt die from inoperable cancer. They doped her so there was no pain, but the hallucinations she suffered towards the end made her seem like a stranger. It's a tragic disease and it seems that even with the resources being poured into erradicating it, the number of people dying don't appear to have lessened during the past 20-30 years, despite the reports of "breakthroughs".

US Insurance companies certainly cover hospice care , even government run medicare does. I know several people who are Brits living here who have experienced your socialist medicine and our private insurance here. They say there is absolutely no comparison between the 2 , ours is light years ahead of yours. For the 15 % of the population here without insurance it is a different story. But that is ok , keep whistling up your ass and tell yourself something is so . Perhaps it will become so. In your dreams. What an extraordinarily arrogant and rude person you are Lawrence. I would imagine the Brits you met had the good sense to take out adequate insurance. When I went to America, I took out enough insurance to cover every eventuality, including air ambulance home. I have an American friend who cannot afford adequate insurance and she suffers as a result. One of the 15% no doubt. I also know Americans who have good insurance. Yes, they do get first class treatment. Some of your hospitals are so advanced British people raise money to send people there. I am not in any way denying that American medicine at its best is excellent, but at the other end of the scale it is anything but. Private health care is available in Britain for those who choose to take out insurance, but it has a great many exclusions. I don't know if American insurance is like that.

Sorry Norfolk. Lack of communication I guess. I agree with you.
