Love how Hugh Pym the BBC ,s "Labour Party" cheerleader tries valiantly to "spin" the good news into something that it,s not....... The Beeb are having enormous probs trying to continuously attack the good economic news that keeps on coming.......and they never recovered from the disappointment of the complete failure of a Triple dip to materialize............. How s that Plan B coming along for you now boys?? Still, alternatively, just run the story and include the word "cutz"at every opportunity

A double dip was impressive enough from the Tories given that grown up governments managed to avoid it.

Also, 1.9% growth p/a not that great, really.
And also - best since 2007 not exactly a great claim to triumph. If they'd managed to include any pre-recession years in that comparison, it would be a rather more something to be impressed by.

its funny when the rabid tory supporters are trumpeting not going into a triple dip as a success story. Still they've slim picking what with the Gidders and Gove drag factor on so much they are doing.

Tories - after 4 years of trying, almost doing as well as Labour! Though manufacturing output and construction are both down in the last quarter. Dunno if that is seasonal variation (can't be much fun building things in the rain) but it rather undercuts the 'rebalanced economy' claptrap Osborne is peddling. Its more unbalanced and service dependent that ever. As for 'Plan B,' a sensible economic policy would have delivered this sort of growth years ago. We're still poorer than we were in 2007 and other economies - which weren't madly flaying themselves with austerity - have recovered more swiftly.

no they didn;t even after they tried to fiddle figures to make it look they didn't Initial data showed a recession also took place from Q4-2011 until Q2-2012, widely referred to as the Double Dip Recession.[21] When revised data was presented on 23 August 2013, it was still strictly speaking a technical recession, as the quarter on quarter changes of seasonal adjusted real GDP growth was calculated to: Q4‑2011 = ‑0.11%, Q1‑2012 = ‑0.01%, Q2‑2012 = ‑0.50%.[17][22] When a new set of revised data was published on 9 October 2013, the figures for Q1‑2012 however showed some completely flat growth at 0.0000%,[citation needed] which meant this period no longer met the generally accepted definition of a recession, requiring a minimum of 2 consecutive quarters of negative economic growth. The latest revised data published on 20 December 2013, however now again show the "Double Dip recession" did occure in Q4-2011 to Q2-2012, with three consequtive quarterly growth rates at -0.11%, -0.04% and -0.42%.[20][13] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_recessions_in_the_United_Kingdom

Ming's graph uses rounded figures. You're squabbling about the difference between 0.00 and 0.04 in the first quarter of 2012. Can't we just burn that loathesome lie-bucket, George Osborne?

The true nastiness of this government is becoming clear, as 'safety nets' are taken away and who will be most affected by Osnborne's bloodthirdt becomes clear - the poorest and most vulnerable. -1 ... Local government cuts, ordered by central government, hitting the poor. -1 ... Taking 500 Syrian refugees, acknowledging there is a catastrophe, but only doing enough to generate a positive headline in the Daily Mail. OVERALL: -6/10 Their domestic agenda and their humanitarianism-as-PR gives a truly nasty edge to the coalition.

freedom from safety nets is the only way to true liberation. Safety nets have become the shackles that bind the poor to their poverty. If you believe you can fly, you can fly.
can I become a personal motivation coach please?
And by the way I'm not a f8cking consultant. consultants are the leeches of society.
