erm .... hang on a minute......... 13,000 people turned up at dawn to see if a mammal would cast a shadow ? Couldn't they just look out of the window to see if it's sunny or cloudy and then go back to bed ?

"Since 1887, Phil has seen his shadow 97 times, hasn't seen it 15 times, and there are no records for nine years, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club."
Sorry to have to raise this point but...it really isn't the same Phil since 1887 is it. Being realistic, that is.
By the way, love the idea of a place called Gobblers Knob being the site of an old German tradition.

At least this year Phil got his revenge for being woken up, He bit the hand of the bastard that woke him.
I'd be taking a Rabies shot if I was him.
