Hamas policemen have seized thousands of blankets and food parcels that were meant to be distributed to Palestinian civilians in Gaza, UN officials say.
A UN spokesman said policemen raided a UN warehouse on Tuesday after officials refused to hand over the aid to a Hamas-controlled ministry.
The UN said it was the first time its aid had been confiscated by Hamas.
It condemned the action and demanded the goods be immediately returned. Hamas denied its men had taken any aid.
UN spokesman Christopher Gunness said Hamas police took 3,500 blankets and over 400 food parcels. news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7869704.stmI can't say I'm surprised.

The only reason the British government doesn't steal aid from abroad is that we don't get any. Gordon contents himself with robbing the taxpayer.
Hamas aren't going to let anybody distribute aid. Hamas are going to want to distribute it themselves to make sure that it goes to the "right" people and make sure that the people know that it's Hamas doing it. Can't let the people think that the UN is helping out. They might not vote for Hamas next election. It's the same as Gordon Brown and his benefits strategy without the ministries.

Those of us in the UK lived forn 30 years under the threat of the US sponsored IRA. We know what these scum do, how they work, how they intimidate and manage to get their patsies to portray them. "But Unrwa says deliveries will not restart until it has assurances that such seizures will not happen again. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Hamas must immediately release the seized aid shipments. He also called on Hamas "to refrain from interference with the provision and distribution of humanitarian assistance in Gaza"." Dammit.... foiled again! |
