One day God was looking down at Earth and saw all of the evil that was going on. He decided to send an angel down to Earth to check it out. So He called one of His best angels and sent the angel to Earth for a while. When she returned she told God, yes it is bad on Earth, 95% is bad and 5% is good. Well, He thought for a moment and thought maybe He'd better send down a second angel to get another point of view. So God called another angel and sent him to Earth for a time too. When the angel returned he went to God and told him "Yes, the Earth is in decline. 95% is bad and 5% is good." God said this was not good. So, He decided to send e-mail to the 5% that were good. He wanted to encourage them, give them a little something to help them keep going. Do you know what that e-mail said? . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh, you didn't get one either, huh?

God has been very good to Tony Blair.

I hope for Tony's sake that his God is very, very forgiving. Otherwise he's in for a bit of a shock when he shuffles off his mortal coil.

Since Tony is a Roman Catholic, he can get away with anything.

Memory of my Catholic education is pretty sketchy, but I'm sure we weren't told that mass murder is OK as long as you believe in the right God.

Hmm. I thought you were absolved after confession for most things.
About 10 hail marys for a genocide. Eternal damnation for using a condom, but that's about the only thing that isn't covered by confession and penance.

Evil comes from "God", there's no other way around it. It says so right in the Bible.

Where does it say that then?

I says so in several places, here is the obvious one:
Isaiah 45:6-7 I am the Lord, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.
There iit is, as plain as day. I eagerly await your attempt at refuting it.

Makes perfect sense if you really think about it. Ascribing it all to some bogeyman by the name of Lucifer (which incidentally means "bringer of light", essentially making the same point) is farcical.

if nothing else, god is a symbol - the one you praise or accuse, depending on how things work out, god is where the buck stops, so to speak... it is rather interesting though, the new wave politicisation of the christian god.... and as tom waitts said, there aint no devil, it's just god when he's drunk

I'm not throwing the concept of God out the window. I think there is way more to it than both the simplistic sunday school conception of "God" and the atheist conception of nothing.

The point of that is that all things were created by God since He is the only creator. Evil, like all other things in creation, exists in itself. God doesn't allow evil, nor stop it. It is up to us to resist and ignore it.
